"Imposing VAT on private schools has cost the Scottish economy £60m & 900 jobs." "It is expected that the VAT collected will be less than the fiscal impact…giving a net loss of £16m, to rise to £181m by 2037-38." Who could have seen this coming? 🙋🏼‍♂️ thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar…

@eurovisionbrent It’s got Baby Lasagna/Kaarijaa vibes for me - I love it, the crowd will love it in the arena, and kids like my 14 yr old who’s obsessed with Lasagna/Kaarijaa/Eurodab will lap it up!

My economic plan is the right one for Britain. 📉 Inflation falling faster than expected 💷 Borrowing forecast to be the lowest in 6 years 📈 Families £1,000+ a year better off after inflation Building a strong and secure economy and making working people better off.

Cutting the cost of living is my number one priority, and thanks to the choices we have made we are driving inflation down. Our economic plan is the right one, cutting the cost of living, cutting national debt and creating the conditions for growth.

@SandyofSuffolk My favourite bits are always “wiggle room”, the pointless chat with someone else who lives there (“everyone is so friendly and there’s loads to do”), and when the estate agent of the house nobody can afford to buy says “I’ll show you out”.

A Place in the Sun ☀️ Tonight's edition with Jasmine Harman on a very grey, windy and deserted beach in Estepona. 🇪🇸 Because it's 5am. 🤣 The buyers have 230,000 with 30,000 wiggle room. You know, the same old script which is 20 years old now, Jasmine using 'all her skills etc etc'. Yawn. 😫 They want views, near the beach and traditional. Property 1 is huge but the woman buyer with the annoying voice wants more space. Her partner is a drip. 💧 Property 2 is in Casares where they meet someone who already lives there and speak to her for all of 20 seconds. She tells them you can walk and cycle there. Stunning revelation. Who knew. 🙄🤣 The property is 10 minutes' walk from the beach but it's over the wiggle room. Drippy is putting the mockers on it because it's too modern. 🙄 Annoying voice loves the modernity. 🥰 Off to Bel Air. No, not the American one. 🇺🇸 We're staying in Spain. 🇪🇸 This is a pretty urbanisation that's under budget and it's a 3 bed house. They both love it inside but Drippy doesn't like the terrace with no views. ☹️ Buenas Nochas, or something like that. It's blowing a hooley here. 🍃💨 A duplex on the corner of two roads. Annoying voice doesn't like the location but Drippy thinks it's beautiful. It's not. Really it's not. And the traffic noise. Ugh. 😩 Off to see the luxurious house nobody can afford, so what's the point. 🤷‍♂️ Come on, you know the routine by now. 😜 The last property is in Manilva, not near a beach, but high on a hill with stunning views. 3 bed 3 storey town house that needs updating. Drippy now says he prefers property 2, the modern one that was too modern. 🙄🧐 After a lengthy break away on his own holiday, the rickety table returns and has been plonked on the deserted beach. The luminous orange juice remains untouched, never to pass the lips of any human. 🍊 Drippy and his partner put in a cheeky (rude) offer on property 2, the modern one, which Drippy said was too modern, which is declined. They up their offer to 255,000 and it's accepted. Yay 🥳 But they're still not allowed to drink the luminous orange juice. 😜

@JamesMelville Takeaway coffee, my occasional treat and getting rarer by the week. And eating out - went for lunch at the garden centre where we got our Christmas tree today and it cost £60 for 3 of us. I fear for hospitality, will there be anywhere left in a year’s time?!

@GaryUsher_ Had a good idea? Taken a risk? Sleepless nights for years? Employ loads of people and occupy loads of buildings? They’ll have all of that thanks!

@CarverEmily It’s lucky I enjoy my job because it’s almost not worth coming in anymore! Hanging on for some sort of change soon enough that rewards people who save for their own futures, invest in private services to relieve the state, pay for their own kids, create jobs & wealth etc.

@GeorgeFoulkes Nonsense. Higher staff costs means increases to service/product costs or fewer staff, esp junior end. Higher costs generally mean the minimum wage will have to keep raking up just to keep step with inflation. It is getting harder and harder for young people to find work.

So hang on. “Sugar tax” on milky drinks will take two years to come into force, we’re still waiting for vapes to have their VAT applied, but parents had to find VAT for school fees with notice of mere weeks? Everything this govt stands for gives me the ick.

Farmers couldn't be clearer - Labour’s Family Farm Tax threatens British farming and our food security. Now the Farming Minister - who barely spoke about farming before being appointed - admits they’ll just ignore them. Shocking but unsurprising from this Labour government.

@GuidoFawkes Bridget, I don’t accept VAT being charged on my child’s education, so I guess I can just ignore that too?
