@vicmsong Been watching your podcast about taking ray-bans to Rome and wondered - did you visit Necropolis with those? Cause I've heard they're really hard on filming there for some reason - apparently because of "historic preservation", but filming is preservation as I understand it :)

Got some hands-on time with Project Aura and two other AI glasses. A big thing for me is that Google has some interesting ideas on how to address some of the biggest problems with smart glasses — the software. theverge.com/tech/839392/pr…

The FTC’s Meta lawsuit was often framed as an abstract attempt to rein in Big Tech. But in the end, the acquisition’s human cost was obvious — and an example of precisely why antitrust law matters. “Bringing to light that [Supernatural] was a core way for communities to stay healthy shows that there were real stakes here.”

After my Supernatural report last month, I chatted with former FTC Chair Lina Khan to talk about why her agency’s failed attempt to block Meta’s acquisition mattered. Critics mocked the case at the time but hindsight is 20/20. tinyurl.com/5ae6xhjd

At this point Huberman is more Dr. Oz wellness influencer peddling misinformation than a reliable science communicator. Per Slate: slate.com/technology/202…

I'm going to leave this retatrutide explainer where I talk to a doctor who *actually* knows what he's talking about here: theverge.com/column/846406/…
TBPN@tbpn

“This is going to be a trillion-dollar drug.” @hubermanlab says retatrutide is the peptide that’s about to “change everything.” Currently in a Phase III clinical trial in humans, retatrutide caused up to one-third body weight loss in just six months, with some degree of muscle sparing. “The bodybuilding community has been onto this for a long time.” “Then it shows up in Hollywood. Everyone lies or avoids answering the question of how they got so jacked. They talk about eating chicken breasts, and they’re actually taking growth hormone, Winstrol, and retatrutide.” “We are looking at a potential change in the laws around peptides such that buying peptides would become illegal. I think this is a terrible idea, but the motivation behind this is largely because Eli Lilly owns the patent.” “Lilly would like to protect the domain over that patent. This is going to be a trillion-dollar drug.”

Some personal news. For real. I’m doing one of these. Deep breath… After 12 years at The Wall Street Journal, I’m leaving. Twelve! I’m starting my own consumer-tech media company, building a new home with the same mission I've always had: help real people navigate the tech (and AI) changing their lives. I’m so excited and so terrified! I can’t wait to start building and hiring. If you want to follow along (and be first to hear what’s next), sign up at the link below and subscribe on YouTube. No holding small, puffy microphones. I promise. Probably. It would make for a great exit story if I said I was leaving the Journal because of some big fallout—and the office printer system slowly poisoned me. The Journal changed my life. I’ve learned from the best journalists in the business, made lifelong friends and was given the freedom to take risks and make at least six stipples of myself—and one of my dog. Thank you to the many people I can’t possibly list here and to everyone who watched my WSJ videos, read the columns, argued with me in the comments and made this the most fun job in the world.

Here’s a story I’ve been working on for a few weeks. Over 50 Supernatural fans reached out to share how a VR fitness game changed their lives — and they had choice words about how Mark Zuckerberg and Meta killed the one thing that brought them together tinyurl.com/4yaftn2s

On top of an AMA later today, I have this week's Optimizer about cute robots that promise to boost mental wellbeing... by being cute. Come for the kawaii, stay for thoughts on east vs west robot culture, dementia, and a musical about singing robots. tinyurl.com/mrybapda

This week on Optimizer: my search into the contents of a dubious vial of "GLP-3" that I obtained off the gray market. Turns out, getting this tested is harder than I thought. This is a gift link but please consider subscribing to Optimizer! tinyurl.com/39z3shu3

This week’s Optimizer is about all the bodily fluid tech I encountered on the show floor — and what that tells us about health tech. Chatted with Oura and Dexcom’s CEOs about where the space is headed in 2026 too. theverge.com/tech/859132/op…

In this week’s Optimizer, I buy an experimental “GLP-3” drug off the gray market after five minutes on TikTok. The Wellness Wild West is unregulated and people are playing with fire because our healthcare system is broken. theverge.com/column/846406/…

So, asking for a friend — what are we calling the next-generation of face computers? AI glasses? XR glasses? WIRED XR glasses? AR glasses? Smart glasses because that's the most obvious one and why are companies trying to differentiate?! theverge.com/gadgets/841536…
