i got my first 4 star rating on vgen and asked the client about it to understand their pov. it hasn't affected my 5.0 rating and idm the 4 stars, i just wanted to know their reasoning and also asked if it's because i missed something with their design they ignored me 🥲

An advice that I can always give to other artists who do commissions, is to mark clients who explicitly look for the cheapest prices as red flags. I personally go as far as mentally blacklisting them as well. If they throw around words such as "cheap", "affordable", "steal", or phrases such as "another artist can do this for less", "can we budget this more", "it's too pricey for me", tries to haggle your price or guilt trip you into lowering it. Someone who appreciates your art for what it is will be willing to pay the right amount. Someone who is constantly anxious about the price, most of the time, cannot afford art as a luxury, and they will try to devalue your art by treating it as a commodity. Because commodities are cheap. From personal experience. It's the clients who are very picky with prices that tend to push you to do so many revisions as well, even if it's against your TOS. And it's the clients who are willing to pay the right amount and more, who have shown great appreciation for my art. I always tell artists to not lower their prices if they already get commissions. Don't devalue yourself. But don't let others devalue you either.

Remember, if you have a gut feeling that something is off, search their name. Chances are others have stepped forward about them. Tell others and NEVER feel guilty that you should keep talking to someone when you don't want to. Your boundaries are important. Your safety is important.
