@Fleming_Pres @FlemingCollege Each year we used to recognize a faculty member with the Charles E. Pascal Award for Excellence in Teaching. I don't believe the award has been given out since 2018. I hope I am mistaken. If so please correct me.

(1/2) We are saddened to learn of the passing of Charles Pascal, an advocate for higher education. Pascal served as president of @FlemingCollege from 1982-1987. Each year at convocation we recognize a faculty member with the Charles E. Pascal Award for Excellence in Teaching.

@ryankatzrosene Same there. Completing another Masters in Analytics from Georgia Tech this May - I was going to make Lauren go to Atlanta with me for this reason. I've participated as faculty at the college convocation - supporting graduating students was/is awesome.I highly recommend it.

Confession: Despite having 3 university degrees and being a tenured prof, I have *never* participated in a university convocation ceremony.🫥 Only once did I watch part of one ceremony, from afar, the year before I graduated from my BA, as a few friends received their diplomas.

@Sflecce Relevant to note in 2005 the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) was passed changing public school demographics. Support workers are important to reduce/remove barriers for people with disabilities - our public schools must be accessible and inclusive for all

Despite flatlined student enrolment: ✔️50% increase in education workers since 2002 ✔️Nearly 7,000 additional education workers hired since we took office in 2018 None of this matters unless kids are in class.

@Mathowitz I think of skewed data as being pulled - almost as though we imagine the data being some bulk that needs to be covered with a blanket - when it's skewed to the right/left there are small bits of data in that direction pulling on the blanket trying to get covered

@HezCuthbert I've also started changing it around. Used to be ADIEU but then I'd know a lot of vowels, but no idea where they went or what went with them. Found it made it slow for next guesses. Now I choose something with a mix of common and less common consonants - GHOST, CHASE, POINT, ...

Telecommunications companies should activate all existing landline connections as a free service - no one is going to use them regularly, but they would be there for emergency situations.
