The AI race isn't being decided by who has the best model. It's being decided by who can get 500 megawatts of power to a building in a market where the grid waitlist is 4-7 years and the construction industry is short 439,000 workers. Wrote the full breakdown: open.substack.com/pub/vikchahal/…

@amarifields_ I wish more of them realize this. The whole point of a business IS to generate and grow revenue. Otherwise it’s not a business.

i think founders are starting to realize you can’t rely on restricted pools of capital forever in some way, you need revenue and distribution to survive

Google Maps for Venture Capital. Founders and VCs, this is for you: We built OpenMap. A visual directory of 10,000+ VCs, angels, and family offices worldwide. Think of it as Google Maps for Venture Capital. 👉 Comment "VC map" for free access Here's what's inside: → Visual map of investors actively looking for deals → Search "investors in Paris," "deeptech VCs," "family offices" → Find intros through LinkedIn + Gmail connections → Submit your deck directly to investors If you're a VC, you should be on this map. If you're a founder, you need to know this map. Comment "VC map" and I'll send you access. (Make sure you follow me @StephNass to receive my DM)

Anesthesiologists are the silent orchestrators of the operating room. They’re your safety net when you’re under the knife keeping you alive and stable while the surgeons cut you open and stitch you back together. The true unsung heroes of the OR. If you ever need surgery, ask your anesthesiologist their name and be extra kind to them. They deserve it.

@AlesyaMacWaters Conviction is everything. Spoke to a technical co-founder who lost all interest the second the lead founder lost conviction after VC rejections. She’s breaking up with him next week.

The best founders don’t just build companies. They build conviction in everyone around them

@vikonomics101 my parents are more "Western" to Westerners and a lot more Chinese to me (so the directness is truly an "in-family" way of being).

In many Chinese families, directness is often a form of love. If someone comments on your weight, your work, or your flaws, it can mean: “I see you. I’m paying attention. I’m invested in you.” This was confusing for me growing up. I led a session on feedback processing this.

Many founders hate constraints. Smart ones know they’re critical for success. More creativity. Zero waste. Ruthless prioritization.

I’m not saying power should be proportional to wealth just that everyone paying something (even $50/yr) creates shared ownership. Zero federal income tax for half the country risks disconnecting people from the cost of policies they vote for. Lower taxes > elimination keeps the stake real without being regressive.

@vikramchahal_21 @_robyn_smith If taxes amount to skin in the game then we don’t truly respect the democracy we have. It means we afford political power proportionate to one’s financial means (which is what happens now but is that really democracy?)

@ElTimuro @_robyn_smith That is absolutely a stake, but I’d argue a financial one (even tiny) makes it real when it comes to caring about taxes, spending, and debt. No income tax can lead to “free lunch” thinking. Lowering taxes for the bottom half keeps that connection without hurting them.

@vikramchahal_21 @_robyn_smith "I think there’s something to it. No skin in the game = no real stake in the country." you live in the country and your family and children do too, how is that not a stake?

Sometimes, bad UI is actually good. Vanguard is pretty bad, but I love it. Prevents me from making stupid trades. Ended up making a lot of money. Talk about bad UI as a feature. Can you think of any others?

@SpaceX’s IPO filing says Anthropic is paying xAI $1.25 billion a month yielding ~200% annual return. Here are the numbers: • Capital deployed: ~$7B • Operational payback: 5.6 months • Total payback including build: ~10 months • Contract value: $40B + • Gross return above capex (net profit): ~$33B, roughly 5x By the time they have to replace the deprecating GPUs in 2 years, they can pay cash for it using 4 months of Anthropic’s rent. @elonmusk Much respect for this move.
