New Findings Strengthen Prospects for Deep Ice-Core Research A new study identifies Kamelryggen (KAM) in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica, as a promising coastal ice-core site. Led by NCPOR scientists and international partners, the study shows that KAM could provide high-resolution climate records dating back beyond the Last Glacial Maximum (~20,000 years), helping improve our understanding of past Antarctic and Southern Ocean climate change. #ncporresearch #Antarctica @DrJitendraSingh @moesgoi @Ravi_MoES @TMeloth @PIB_India @PIB_Panaji

Understanding Glacier Change: NCPOR’s Fieldwork in the Western Himalayas As a part of Summer 2025 expedition to the Chandra Basin, NCPOR team conducted vital observations to assess glacier health in the western #Himalayas. Fieldwork included meltwater discharge measurement, DGPS stake surveys, steam-drilled stake installation, snow probing, meltwater sampling, and AWS data retrieval. The team traversed over 1600 km, including 500+ km of radar and 130 km of seismic surveys.
