I am appalled by the horrifying attack on a synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and I strongly condemn this act of violence. My heart is with Michigan’s Jewish community, and I commend the swift response by security personnel that ensured none of the staff or children were harmed. Every person – of every faith and background – deserves to feel safe in their house of worship and in their community. My office is closely monitoring the situation. While there are no specific threats to New Jersey at this time, I am working with federal, state, and county authorities across our state to ensure the safety of our communities. If you see or hear of any suspicious activity, please contact local law enforcement or report it to the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness at njohsp.gov/report or by calling 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ (1-866-472-3365).

Governor Sherrill's budget tackles our fiscal challenges head on by cutting the deficit nearly in half while protecting relief for working families. The proposal reduces spending by more than $2 billion, takes on corporations like pharmacy benefit managers, and holds big tech accountable when they target our kids. At the same time, it protects vital property tax relief programs like StayNJ and ANCHOR and makes the full pension payment. I commend the Governor for putting forward an aggressive and responsible budget that keeps New Jersey focused affordability and long term stability.

#TeamMonmouth crisscrossed Monmouth County today by marching in our two St. Patrick’s Day Parades. I was honored to march in Rumson/Fair Haven and Assemblymembers Donlon and Peterpaul marched in Asbury Park. Congratulations to Grand Marshall Grace Hanlon (Rumson) and Grand Marshall Kim Guadagno (Asbury Park) and to the parade committees of both. Great to celebrate our awesome Irish-American community and their heritage and culture! @GraceHanlon @AsburyParkChmbr @RFH_Regional @Rumson_Borough @inAsburyParkNJ ☘️ ☘️ ☘️

Burchett on Tony Gonzales: “A male harassing a female employee, I just can’t stomach it dude. I’ve got a wife and a daughter. He needs to go.” Luna says she’s prepared to file a censure resolution. Boebert: “He’s a disgusting pig. The speaker should do something about it.”

@DawnFantasia_NJ I voted for a budget that gave critical funding to my district and that’s my priority. I think we are in agreement that future budgets should be done differently and I am glad to see that @GovSherrillNJ is doing that.

@vingopal Thank you for clarifying that you did not advocate for any of those. You did, however, vote yes for all of those - to the tune of millions of taxpayer dollars. I'll reiterate that there is a real danger in lumping legitimate needs with arbitrary wants, as evidenced above.

Sen. @vingopal, I am so happy you posted this. Being that you voted YES on every single past budget fraught with "unnecessary spending" you referenced, we're looking forward to following your vote this year & that you won't submit (or vote YES on) any last minute pork add-ons.

Proud to stand with @GovSherrillNJ It’s time to challenge the status quo. New Jersey families are working hard and they deserve to feel the return on their investment. We have to rein in unnecessary spending and stay laser-focused on affordability across New Jersey. That means scrutinizing every dollar and asking a simple question: does this put our residents first? So happy to see this Governor lead on this issue.

When I ran for Governor, I promised a different kind of leadership for New Jersey and that means making state government more transparent.

Today, we laid out the state of New Jerseys finances: we face a serious structural deficit.

Let me be clear: we won’t raise taxes on New Jerseyans or kick the can down the road. We’re finding savings and making government more accountable.

Assemblywoman - Per my original post supporting Governor Sherrill’s announced budget plans - I am fully supportive of her plans to do just that. The items you listed, I did not advocate for any of those. I advocated and pushed for funding for mental health, healthcare, code blue funding and other critical resources for my district and only supported budgets that provided that for my district.

Senator, I am always down to have a serious conversation about this, and you raise a valid point. I don't disagree that mental health services, VNA, etc. are needs, and not wants. So why conflate the two? Why not fund valid needs right out of the gate, and leave the fluff behind? Take a look at this from the last budget: $2,000,000 – City of Linden: Dorothy Ford Park Improvements $750,000 – Cranford Township: Community Pool $4,000,000 – Woodbridge Township: Capital Improvements $2,000,000 – City of Plainfield: “Center of Excellence” $500,000 – Sayreville Borough: Park Enhancements $1.3 million for an “artist incubator”—which, quite frankly, probably should have been amended to a "senior intubator" for when the elderly drop from the heat after non-payment of an obscene electric bill, or following the former governor's 80° thermostat advice, or during the rolling blackouts that come complimentary with the administration’s misguided green energy fantasy. Please don't pretend that favored districts don't get swimming pools, sparkly stadium lights, and all the trimmings. It's documented and real, and it's gotta stop. It's not okay. WE CANT AFFORD IT. And there's no glossing it over anymore.

@DawnFantasia_NJ I respectfully disagree with what you call pork. Organizations like the Monmouth County SPCA, Monmouth Mental Health Association, Visiting Nurses Association and countless other worthy organizations wouldn’t call the much needed help they received pork.

Here’s a novel idea: stop rigging the budget formula and then pretending pork is “fair share.” For example, if school districts were funded equitably from the start, they wouldn’t need backroom add-ons to stay afloat. And can we stop pretending that wants are legitimate needs? Pickleball courts and sparkly stadium lights aren’t part of any“fair share” when you’re fleecing taxpayers and not even providing the statewide basics. It's not noble -nor is it our job- to advocate for extras when other parts of the state can't get the basics, and you and I know quite well that it's not for a lack of trying by the representatives. Not playing into that false narrative. You can’t vote for bloated budgets every year and suddenly discover fiscal discipline...or maybe you can? Surprise me.

If other areas of the state are getting resources for their towns and nonprofits, It was my job as a representative to make sure Monmouth County received its fair share. For far too long, Monmouth got nothing but I was happy to successfully get millions in what you call as “pork”, i call important projects for our schools, towns and nonprofits, in a bipartisan budget vote with Assemblyman Kean and Senator Singer for Monmouth County I fully support Governor Sherrill’s new rules assuming that no one in the state will get project funding and I am good with that but if other areas of the state start getting $, I will fight to make sure Monmouth gets the same because that is the job of a local representative - to fight for funding for their district.
