My son was 15 when he asked to sleep over at a friend’s house “with a few people over.”
I said no.
He stomped upstairs like I’d ruined his entire existence.
About twenty minutes later, my phone rang.
It was another teenager.
This child actually introduced himself like he was calling HR.
“Hi, Ms. Taylor, I just wanted to know why Jacob can’t come tonight.”
I told him I didn’t know the parents, I didn’t know who would be there, and I wasn’t comfortable with it.
Long silence.
Then he goes, “Well… everyone else’s parents said yes.”
Okay? Congratulations to everyone else.
Then he tried the guilt trip. “Jacob said you never let him do anything.”
Sir. You are literally a sophomore in high school. Why are we holding a board meeting about my parenting decisions?

As a Michigander I will never vote for a culture who supports sharia law, I maybe a woman but I’m not a stupid woman.

I need someone who knows a damn thing about Michigan to explain how Abdul El-Sayed is a "risky" or "bad" candidate. He is young, energetic, likeable, no-bullshit, and accomplished. He knows and loves both Michigan and Michiganders. He is an amazing candidate.

I think El-Sayed is far too risky a candidate even in a blue year. We've seen bad candidate fumble winnable races even when the environment benefits them. There's Sara Gideon, Sharron Angle, Blake Masters, Dr. Oz, Christine O'Donnell, etc.

When I was 7 months pregnant, my husband and I went to a party and they had cherry pie. I brought one slice home specifically for myself because at that stage of pregnancy I thought about food constantly.
I put it in the fridge, went to bed, and fully planned on eating it the next day.
The next morning I woke up already thinking about that pie. I walked to the kitchen excited, opened the fridge, and the container was empty.
That man ate it.
Not even after a few days. Not after asking me if I still wanted it. This happened within hours.
I just stood there staring into the fridge trying to process what I was seeing. Then I started crying so hard he thought something actually terrible had happened.

One of the tricks local governments use to sneak property tax increases past taxpayers is putting the elections in May and August.
Like this Tuesday where billions in spending were put on the ballot.
We need to move ALL millage elections to the November General Election ballot.
So get out and vote Tuesday to stop your local property tax hike, and then help me win so we can stop local governments from sneaking rate increases once and for all next year!

I urge everyone to read role model before they say it’s not necessary for season 2. Troy’s story is essential to Ilyas development in TLG. He’s the first person Ilya comes out to and seeing Troy coming out feeds into Ilyas almost jealousy/anger that he can’t have that with Shane. Also Troy and Harris’ story is sooo good they are my fav couple after Hollanov so everyone will be eating theirs words when they see their story.
