At the very least it teaches you the concept of arguments, support/evidence, what’s good or bad support and why, etc. I find I’m always having to restate the specific claim I’m arguing against

Men either have more pride or desire to be at the top, because they’re rewarded for it. Women aren’t attracted to low ambition

That was my lazy way of summarizing how people refute any sex differences and claim the only reason women aren’t successful in games is because of external forces around them preventing them from succeeding, vs very explainable biological factors

@apeirozenith @readasv @BrockOzzywozzy because women have historically been not welcomed in esports spaces. it's less common for them to grow up playing games like that. and if they do, they are far more likely to be denied tryouts for teams and other things that would make it harder to get really good

@violetow919 @BrockOzzywozzy LoL and cs imo are more competitive strategy games, whereas OW and Val are generally more social and attract a different crowd. Like there’s crossover for sure, but there’s a reason why all the clips of people uwuing are from OW or Val and not CS.

If you try and think it’s anything except that, and there’s some big plot or movement against one group, you will run into dead ends

You’d think the e-boys and e-girls would get along better. It’s also harder in those games to see what your teammates do

@apeirozenith @BrockOzzywozzy if we're going the anecdotal route, i encounter women that play games at about the same ratio as men. women dont find gaming as an attractive hobby as the games that are predominantly played by men are typically the ones that are historically hostile to women. but lets talk stats

And articles get published saying women don’t view gaming as an attractive male hobby (even if it’s exaggerated it’s still something)

@violetow919 @BrockOzzywozzy It may be true that 50% of women game in some way, but it’s not outlined on a game by game basis. I guarantee you 50% of players in FPS games, LoL, FIFA/madden, etc players are not women. It’s probably 70-30 or 80-20 in those games.

Ive had far well past my well share of people who BMed me for things outside of gameplay 💀 Theres people who just want to BM and troll. They know most girls will get worked up with misogyny thanks to pattern recognition, so they use it. The point for them is to find what makes your jimmies rustled and to abuse it. They do the same thing on guys.

My comments on competitive differences are supported by studies and reality. It’s empathy to try to understand people you disagree with

@apeirozenith @BrockOzzywozzy for men, there usually has to be some perceived wrongdoing before you get flamed. you have to fuck up or have your teammate think you fucked up to get flamed. for women, simply being a woman is already a wrongdoing in their eyes.
