i finally decided to follow the trend and build in public. for the past month i've been building a tool to level up my coding tutorials quality.
I've named it "Code Reels". A video editor with a built in code editor to display nice code snippets on screen.
very niche, but I saw an opportunity for this little tool. Educators that I admire like @mattpocockuk and @simonswiss invested time trying to produce high quality, short-form content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. It is not simple to achieve.
I believe I can come up with a great app for this use-case, using @codehike_ and @Remotion .
Other creators whom I look up to (that produce stunning coding visuals) are @delba_oliveira , @lydiahallie and @nicoalbanese10 .
Why am I sharing all this ? To keep myself accountable.
It is a fun little project, but can it generate money 💸?
I think so. But not with the "code generation" feature. I think this tool could become a great Submagic / VeedIO cheaper 'alternative'.
I don't see myself paying $20 a month to generate only 10 videos of 1 minute. The pricing and limits are confusing.
I am hoping to build a product similar to @postbridge_ : simpler to use and way cheaper.
Since I started building it, I've seen creators build similar tools :
- @woocassh with SubtitlesFast
- @YBenlemlih with @SnipCastDev
- @mazeincoding with @opencutapp
- @rexan_wong with Brandthetics
- @itstundealao with KozyStudio
Lot of competition, and their product look amazing! This is gonna be fun!
This is my first SaaS and I have a lot more to share soon. Follow me to make sure you don't miss it ! 🔥
