@generalusername If you look at it closely, you can see it's pretty much "southern"-ified Nagari without the head stroke. Look at na, ta, da etc.

@generalusername Age-old tradition of linguistic pseudo-science more like 😮‍💨 Doesn't matter which parent the children speaks more to, he'll grow up speaking Damila anyway, it's all just different corrupted versions of the same mother language. #TamilMotherOfAllLanguagesConfirmed

Building Aksharamukha.js as we speak. It is indeed fun and engaging to build in #OpenSource, but as a #Bajjika-speaker, the bigger part of me wants to build to help our local languages and scripts be more technically accessible to fellow countrypeople. Fingers-crossed on the purpose being fulfilled. :) One day we will have a fully-functional and also good-looking keyboard app for #native scripts on both Android and iOS. Perhaps, one day the platforms' native keyboards would also start supporting more native scripts, hahaha! ;) Jai Bihar! Jai Hind!

@ParamSiddharth Can I just ping you when I push a new version and you can trigger a new build? Would that work?

@virtualvinodh At the moment, it won’t. There are a few third-party packages whose wheels need to be built manually, so I have it in the roadmap to write a pipeline that would do all that automatically and publish a new version of the package on NPM.

@ParamSiddharth Sweet. It I push a new version in Python, will the wasm code update automatically or should it be built manually for each new release?

@longhandnotes @Ugrashravas It's a common Tibetan convention. Replacing intervocalic /va/ with /ba/ (like Bengali and Oriya) . I assume it's most likely because they got their Sanskrit filtered through Eastern India. The individual /va/ is rarely used in actual Sanskrit texts.

@Ugrashravas Has the Aksharamukha app has assumed vabayorabheda, or is there vabayorbheda in this script, or is it simply a mistranscription?

@akilan27 I was fighting against it 17 years ago and realized it was a futile exercise. ta.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%AE%AA… I suppose that's the downside of having diglossia: you can keep inventing words or purifying the written language, with them never entering the spoken language

@generalusername @cobbaltt In my TN Telugu dialect, I'd probably say "నాతో చేరి". Most likely a calque from the colloquial Tamil "என்னோட சேந்து"

@cobbaltt In Telugu you can say: Nātō̃bāṭu cālā mandi ā pustakānni cadivǣru (read.3p.PST) Alternatively, you can say: Cālā manditō̃bāṭu nēnū ā pustakānni cadivǣnu (read.1sg.PST) The emphasis in the second sentence is on me, while in first sentence it's on many people.

Question for people who speak languages with subject agreement in verbs: What agreement would the verb have in the following sentence: "Many people, including me, have read the book." Would it be 3rd person plural ("they") or 1st person plural ("we")?

Chakreshvari is a font that helps Tamil speakers accurately transcribe foreign languages using a Tamil-like script. Unlike native Tamil transcription that merges sounds like crate & great as க்ரேட், it preserves distinctions for precise pronunciation virtualvinodh.com/projects/chakr…

You can now accurately transcribe English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese into six major Indic scripts using Uchcharaka. This could be especially useful for language learners, helping them grasp correct pronunciation in a familiar script. uchcharaka.aksharamukha.com/transcriber

@koldcel @Endorer0 Ha ha. No worries man. It's probably because in Tibetan /v/ usually becomes /b/. You can force it to use /w/ my enabling source preserve. In any case, if you find anything that looks off, just tag me here. I'll have a look ☺️
