Conferences uncomfortable truth: The people getting the most out of them aren't always the ones collecting most contacts. (I use my LinkedIn QR code; it really helps). They're the ones who go home, open their laptop, and actually follow through. Still learning this myself...

Follow up with ideas too, not just people!! → Papers I still need to read. → Lectures to process in my Claude–Obsidian system → 1 collaboration idea worth exploring → 3 posters I photographed and almost forgot about. If you don't capture it within 48 hours, it's gone...

One more conference tip! This is another underrated one. And the one I got wrong for longer than I'd like to admit. This one is about conference networking. And the golden rule here is: follow-up!

6/ Practicing multiple lengths builds more than presentation skill. It sharpens: * clarity * audience awareness * confidence * networking * and even job/fellowship conversations (why not? 🤓)

5/ Best poster opener: “Are you interested in the 1-minute version or the 5-minute presentation?” It respects time, feels polished, and lets people choose how deep they want to go.

1/ I recently attended the fantastic Brazilian Movement Disorders Conference, and this week I’d like to share a few tips that might help medical students and residents. 
This is still one of the most underrated conference skills:

Our brain holds 86 billion neurons: literally a cosmos within us! What an excellent analogy by Professors Okun, Bloem, and Dorsey. This illustrates how complex Parkinson’s disease is… All aspects need to be in perfect alignment, just like our solar system! @MichaelOkun

How inspiring it is to be living in this era of movement disorders. New treatments, more mature research perspectives, and exponential discoveries in biomarkers and genetic advances. I’m deeply grateful to have found myself in this field. 🧠🌀

29/11/1825 - 200 years since the birth of the father of modern neurology: Jean-Martin Charcot. It is no coincidence that today we celebrate International Movement Disorders Day. This specialty includes Parkinson’s disease; a condition masterfully described by Charcot.

During training, we chase zebras: the thrill of spotting the rare, exotic diagnosis & presenting it with pride. But as we grow, we realize the true art lies in managing the herds of horses (common diseases with uncommon complexity, demanding good judgment, patience and balance)🤔

1/ I was in the middle of selfish mission: scanning as many QR codes from booths as possible at the conference, hoping to win a free registration for the next one. At a random organization’s desk, a kind young man started chatting with me. Honestly, I wasn’t fully in the moment.
