I don’t know and have never met #Pradeepgupta of #axis. But I cannot help but put on record my admiration for his remarkable set of psephological predictions over the last few years. He has capped it with unprecedented accuracy in the current elections. His sticking out his neck re #TN and the results yday almost seems to be magical. Quite fairly, he refused to predict re #WB and transparently stated that he did not have enuff data to do so. He got the other three states also right. His accuracy is not mere trends (win /lose binaries) but hard concrete figures which are close enuff to be unprecedented. Hope he retains his professionalism and accuracy.

Some in the Congress, and others, are gloating about TMC’s loss. They need to understand this clearly - the theft of Assam and Bengal’s mandate is a big step forward by the BJP in its mission to destroy Indian democracy. Put petty politics aside. कांग्रेस के समय खड़ी हुई पार्टियां बीजेपी के समय में तबाह हो रही हैं। ज्यादातर क्षेत्रीय पार्टियां कांग्रेस से अलग हुए नेताओं ने बनाई थीं। उन्हें बीजेपी लील रही है। राहुल गांधी चाहते थे कि पूरा इंडिया गठबंधन SIR पर मिलकर लड़ाई लड़े। उन्होंने तीन प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस की, बाकायदा सबूत पेश किया। वे सबूत विश्वसनीय और चौंकाऊ थे। कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र और हरियाणा में किस तरह से वोटर लिस्ट में धांधली हुई, फर्जी वोटर बनाए गए, असली नाम काटे गए। इन सब के बारे में राहुल गांधी ने बात की। तब कोई विपक्षी पार्टी उनके साथ नहीं खड़ी हुई। बिहार में उन्होंने यात्रा भी की, इसके बावजूद इंडिया गठबंधन की पार्टियों ने इस मसले पर उन्हें अलग-थलग करने की कोशिश की। अब बिहार और बंगाल, दोनों राज्यों में नतीजा सामने है। कुछ दशक पहले इस देश में गैर कांग्रेसवाद की एक सनक शुरू हुई थी, जो कमोबेश अभी भी चल रही है। लगभग एक दर्जन पार्टियों को बीजेपी लील गई है। इसके बावजूद क्षेत्रीय दल बीजेपी से बड़ा दुश्मन कांग्रेस को समझते हैं। मेरा यकीन है कि अगर यह सिलसिला चलता रहा तो अंत में कोई क्षेत्रीय दल नहीं बचेगा और फिर जब कांग्रेस अकेली बचेगी तो वह भी नहीं बचेगी। आने वाले समय में एक क्रूर, भ्रष्ट, हिंसक और लोकतंत्र की दुश्मन बन चुकी तानाशाही से वही बचेगा जो लड़ेगा और लड़ने को कोई तैयार नहीं है। हमारी चिंता कोई पार्टी नहीं है, बल्कि वह भारतीय लोकतंत्र है जिसे रोज रौंदा जा रहा है।
