I'm updating the effect unit in VividShaper so that it will include two reverbs. You will be able to route some oscillators through delays and others through reverbs. The delays can also be routed through the reverbs. Coming in the next update (very soon!).

A new feature coming up in VividTracker is "automated steps". The STEPS feature has been in VividTracker since it was first released 11 years ago and it allows you to set that the tracker should jump e.g. 4 steps every time you enter new data. But what if you want to jump to the next note? "Automated steps" does that. By pressing "STEPS", the number of steps will be automated to how many rows there are to the next note. This simplifies the process of overwriting an existing motif with a counterpart.

VividTracker v2.14 has just been released. It now has a song overview just like Protracker, but with the additional feature that you can see for each track if it is empty or not for a given pattern. An empty track in a pattern will be shown in dark grey. If you have data of any sort in it, it will be shown in cyan colour. You can enter the song overview by pressing the "POS" button on screen 1. You exit it by pressing "POS" again. Just like in Protracker, you can now see the full structure of the song, i.e. you can see which pattern that is played at each position. To change the structure of the song, you will still use the +/- buttons next to POS, PAT, LEN along with the I (insert) and D (delete) buttons.

@jfrostyfish7 Sorry, but it does offer virtual MIDI output if you wish to sequence other apps internally. I am considering implementing AUv3 as a host, but the first priority is to bring XM-support (Fasttracker 2 format). For now, VividTracker is a dedicated Amiga mod-tracker.

The next version of VividTracker will soon be released. It contains a new song view similar to what you have in Protracker for the Amiga, where you can see the whole structure of the song. You can also see which of the tracks in each pattern that have any data.

In VividShaper, you will be able to control the LED's in both the LED-ring and on the micro:bit itself (5x5 red LED matrix) using the built in Lua-programming language (that is also used to shape waves). There will be a new function called VSHalo() where you can control the LEDs.

This is how it works: The VividHalo software on the micro:bit will advertise itself as a bluetooth MIDI-device that you can connect to your computer or your iPhone/iPad. It will then start to receive commands. The commands will be coded as 14 bits pitch bend MIDI data. The first 30 LED's will be controlled on MIDI-channel 1. The 14 bits will tell the RGB colour for a given LED, in 4-bit resolution: PPPPPRRRRGGGGBBBB where P is the position given by 5 bits, R is the red colour, G is the green colour, and B is the blue colour, each coded with 4 bits.

This is a new thing I'm working on for VividShaper - the Lua programmable procedural wave AUv3 synthesizer. Kitronik's ZIP Halo HD is a cheap RGB LED ring (≈€32) for the BBC micro:bit. The micro:bit is bought separately and costs around €19. I have developed a software for it (called VividHalo) so you can control the different LEDs using Bluetooth MIDI. This means you will be able to write programs in VividShaper and make for instance a MIDI clock, a note visualiser, or just a nice light show that goes with the beat of your song. You will be able to control every LED from VividShaper. There will be VividHalo programs in the factory patch list that you will be able to use and modify.

I hope to release the next version of VividShaper within the next few days. The new version will have an amazing new feature that allows you to use VividShaper as a sequencer, both internally and externally to other plugins. The new function that enables this is called VSPlay() and it works almost exactly like the PLAY command on the Commodore 128. You type in what notes you want it to play and it will play it from the position that you require. An arpeggio could be written as simple as VSPlay(“CEGCEG”) But there’s more! You will also be able to transpose the notes easily, and adjust them from e.g. major to minor. More videos coming soon!

Here is another example, where VividShaper is sending MIDI notes to Korg’s drum machine London. It sends the notes ”c e d# e” and repeats them.

Coming soon, a new VividShaper feature called VSPlay(). It allows you to send MIDI notes to other AUv3 plugins by writing the notes as strings, making VividShaper work as a sequencer. This little demo sends notes to Korg Module and plays Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
