However, I've invested in a handful of hyperlocal logistics players in Africa. Ultimately, they all face the hard question: What is the high-margin asset you truly control and not only coordinate? The coordination layer alone is not enough to sustain a venture-scale business in this sector. Volatility is too high in the region for low-order-value, human-intensive fulfillment to be high (enough) margin. You then are left with two paths. [1] verticalize deeply and sell that value-chain to others [2] bet on long-term, tech-based cost reduction (autonomy, EVs, etc.). The first is one of the hardest operational challenges in the world. Teams often delay this rollout or get overwhelmed by it. Our successful founders in the space tend not to be 'tech' founders but 'operational' founders. The second requires long-term funders who are true believers and a step-change in the enabling infrastructure. That's a hard bet in our ecosystem and there's a reason a lot of the fundraising in this sector has been under the climate + jobs impact umbrella; often tied to two-wheeler EVs. Every one of your favorite hyperlocal startups in Africa must answer the hard question eventually. Those that cross that chasm will prosper.

What I would do if were to be an UNDERGRADUATE again today? 1. Find an accommodation close to the main campus or stay inside the school dormitory in my first year. 2. Volunteer to be the class rep of my class from first year. If it gets political, I will pull out. 3. Punctual to class and make friends with the smart colleagues. I will shadow useful personal development associations (I will avoid anything cult) and religious groups. 4. Visit Nairaland website to identify the different available undergraduate scholarships for first year students for my course of study and their past questions. 5. I will register for the scholarships and try my luck. I will use the experience to prepare myself for the second year opportunities. I will create an account on scholastica and fill in all my information. This gives me opportunity to directly apply to scholarships on click. 6. I would start gathering past questions early from the beginning of the semesters. Then check them after every class to see where there is an overlap. 7. I will make sure I finish my first year above 4.5 CGPA before going to my department proper. 8. In my second year, this time I will identify some senior colleagues for past questions and tips plugs. 9. I will contribute meaningfully and respectfully during lectures to create initial connections and familiarization with my departmental lecturers. 10. I will revisit 200 level based scholarships like AGBAMI, CHEVRON, TOTAL, NDC, etc. and apply with my first class CGPA. I will ransack Nairaland threads and dragnet for tips and past questions. 11. I will start my reading ahead of the class to ensure my class contribution. To be continued...

For a country thats so poor... we are so classist. It doesn't make sense. The basics in other parts of the world are considered "luxury" at home. A meal in a nice restaurant is a flex anywhere in the world... but if the luxury is basic food, we are doing too much. The so called "rich" are so disconnected from people who cook for them... people who take care of their children... people who drive them. Don't you even care for your life? How do you not know where your staff live and how they get to work? We are too poor for this behaviour oh! People are going through hell! And they have to come to your house and you act like you are living in the same bubble? Abeg na And its across board... see how nannies and drivers treat each other depending on what they earn and who their bosses are. I have observed and listened to all sorts of rubbish. Its us. We need to get a full mindset change!
