My landlord fixes things in my house and shovels the driveway. Housing costs still seem reasonable in Chicago relative to the coasts, but the data make clear Chicago has a rental unit shortage. My real estate friends can chime in, but we need to make it easier to build here. Would help with economic growth, fiscal pressures and prop taxes.
