Today, I went to court to face the consequences of our arrest on Good Friday. Over 20 of us were arrested. In the words of the Judge: “The victim” failed to show up in court. The somber irony of calling the world’s largest weapons contractor a “victim”was not lost… especially when our “crime” was creating a memorial to honor the victims of war that blocked the entrance of Lockheed Martin. All charges were dismissed. Would we do it again? Of course, we are already planning the next protest. As long as they continue to kill… we will continue to nonviolently get in the way.

A few weeks ago, I was arrested… along with over 20 other people, as we carried the names of children killed by the weapons of Lockheed Martin, and prayerfully blocked the entrance to the world’s largest weapons contractor. Tomorrow morning, many of us will make our case before a judge. Pray for us… but even more pray for the children and families in Gaza and Iran and Lebanon… pray for an end to war… pray that companies like Lockheed Martin that profit from death would be held accountable… pray that we would turn our weapons into farm tools and study war no more.

Video broadcast by Spanish public broadcaster TVE shows officers striking activists with batons, forcing several to the ground. Four people were arrested for serious disobedience, resisting arrest, and assaulting law enforcement officers, Basque regional authorities said. Flotilla member Luka Remiro said the group arrived already injured. “We spent 72 hours in the hands of the Zionists, who tortured us in every way possible. Some came back with broken ribs or a dislocated shoulder, and the first thing they do is beat us again during a moment of celebration.” Podemos MEP Irene Montero condemned the response. “How is it possible that they receive the activists from the flotilla with beatings, when they come after suffering torture from the Israeli army?” she said, calling for the immediate resignation of whoever gave the order. Podemos leader Ione Belarra echoed the condemnation. The Basque security department said its internal affairs unit has launched an investigation into whether the use of force complied with procedure.

The Israeli fascist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and the Israeli occupation oppressive army are abusing and suppressing activists from the “Freedom Flotilla” that sailed from Turkey to break the siege on Gaza Strip. The activists were taken hostages in international waters in grave violation of international law. When accountability is absent crimes continue.
