@aakashgupta I applied. I can confirm. The hiring system is even worse than you are billing it as. Its completly broken. Its mind boggling how truly bad it is.

The air traffic controller cleared the fire truck onto the runway. Seconds later, the same controller screamed “stop, stop, stop.” The plane was doing 93 to 105 mph. Both pilots are dead. Everyone will frame this as controller error. One controller was simultaneously managing a United flight that aborted takeoff after an anti-ice warning, dispatching a fire truck across an active runway, and sequencing an inbound Air Canada landing at highway speed. At 11:40 PM. On a mandatory overtime shift at a facility that has been understaffed for years. A system that assigns one person that workload will produce exactly this outcome. The only variable is when. The FAA is short approximately 3,000 controllers. The headcount dropped 13% from 2010 to 2024 while flight volume rose 10%. Over 40% of the FAA’s 290 terminal facilities are understaffed. The New York TRACON, which manages the most congested airspace in America across LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark, has been chronically below target. Newark was operating at 59% of its staffing goal. LaGuardia handles 900 flights a day. The hiring pipeline is broken at every stage. Only 2% of applicants complete the full process. Training takes up to 6 years. The FAA Academy in Oklahoma City is a bottleneck, with roughly 35% of trainees washing out. Congress blocked legislation to build a second academy. In one recent hiring cycle, the FAA brought on 1,512 candidates and lost 1,300 in the same window. Net gain: around 160 controllers for an entire country. Three things need to happen and everyone who can make them happen has known for years. Congress needs to fund and authorize a second FAA training academy. One facility in Oklahoma City cannot produce enough controllers for 900 million annual passengers. Members of Congress from Oklahoma have actively blocked this. That needs to end yesterday. The FAA needs to cut certification time. Six years from application to fully certified controller is absurd. The agency’s own data shows tower simulators reduce certification time by 27%. They’ve installed them at 95 facilities. That should be every facility, and the simulated hours should count toward more of the certification requirement. The FAA needs to stop plugging staffing gaps with mandatory overtime. Controllers at understaffed facilities are working six-day weeks rotating between morning, mid, and night shifts. The NTSB has flagged fatigue repeatedly. The controller last night was managing overlapping emergencies during a nighttime operation. Overtime is not a staffing plan. It’s a countdown to the next runway collision. The controller said “I messed up” to a Frontier pilot who watched the whole thing. The pilot responded “No man, you did the best you could.” One of them is right. The answer determines whether this happens again.

@ZombieRichNixon @AnishA_Moonka @unskilledtechs Race swapping a character isnt the issue. Its race swapping a character that is described a certain way in the book. It absolutely isnt the only way to avoid the problem. Lots of franchises swap characters and do great, Joker, Spiderman, Wyatt earp, etc.

@AnishA_Moonka @unskilledtechs Adam Driver would be directly compared to Alan Rickman, and he would fall short of our memory of the character, as any other actor would. I know that the change is highly controversial, but it's basically the only way to avoid that specific problem.

Warner Bros. spent $1.2 billion to make all eight Harry Potter films. The new TV series reportedly costs $100 million per episode, which would make it the most expensive TV show ever produced. Amazon’s Rings of Power cost $58 million per episode. House of the Dragon, $20 million. Game of Thrones started at $6 million. HBO has planned seven seasons, one for each book, eight episodes per season. That’s 56 episodes. If the per-episode budget holds, the total production cost lands around $5.6 billion. Nearly 5x what all eight original films cost to make, and roughly three-quarters of what the entire franchise has earned at the box office ($7.7 billion) across 25 years. Three weeks ago, Paramount Skydance signed a deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $31 per share, valuing the company at $110 billion including debt. Netflix was bidding too but walked away in late February. Harry Potter sits next to Game of Thrones and the DC Universe as one of the most valuable assets in that deal. WBD has about 132 million Max subscribers today and is projecting 150 million by December. The original films returned almost 7x their production budget at the box office. Generating that kind of return through monthly streaming subscriptions requires a completely different scale of audience, sustained over a decade. They’re reportedly building a “mini city” in the UK specifically for filming, with a price tag around $1.3 billion. A school is being constructed on-site for the child actors. Hans Zimmer is scoring the series. Over 30,000 kids auditioned for three roles. The average Harry Potter film cost $144 million to produce. A single episode of the new series reportedly costs $100 million. Warner Bros. is betting over $5 billion that a streaming franchise can match what a theatrical one did.

Alan Ritchson throwing hands over a loud dirt bike…That's the most on brand thing I've heard all week. Reacher energy activated irl. Man went from Reacher breaking necks on Netflix to breaking jaws in Nashville. And in front of kids... But lowkey respect the commitment to the role.

@consciousphilos Isnt that the nuclear doctrine for everyone. I mean, at some point it becomes laughable to argue that is any different than thousands going off around the world from America, Russia and China. Same outcome. And at that point, who cares either way, its all over anyway for most.

Let me tell you as briefly as possible about israel's "Samson option" & then you tell me if you still support them (btw you can google this yourself if you don't trust me) "Samson option" means that if israel is going down, they plan to use nukes & attack as many countries as possible to maximize the damage & take as many people with them as possible. That means they plan to nuke targets in European countries, too. You may think: "Ok, if someone attacks them 1st, they have the right to defend themselves." Well, this plan makes it clear that if the European countries don't SUPPORT israel or stay NEUTRAL while israel is fighting a war, they'll nuke them too. Even though they've done nothing wrong. It's a "if we're going down, then we'll take as many of you with us as possible" mentality. And then someone will look you dead in the eyes & say that "israel is our great ally"

How close does Iran have to be to be able to strike the UK? The answer is that they could, theoretically, already be able to do it. Do people still want to do nothing? Honest question.

I put on a friend's military kit which confirmed what I already know: women should NOT be in combat roles in our military. The first thing I said was "omg my hips are killing me" and then learned that the number one most common injury women face in the military is lower extremity musculoskeletal overuse, AKA women break their hips!!! I'm a fit person, I workout every day, I was a national team level athlete, I'm 5'9", and I immediately recognized that women's bodies are not designed for this. It's not discrimination, it's simple fact. Women have less bone density and have narrower and thinner bones that aren't as strong and not designed to handle the weight of gear. We also have wider hips, and the shape of our pelvis changes how forces travel through the hips, knees, and legs, putting significantly more stress on those areas. During certain hormonal shifts, our bodies produce less estrogen, which makes women's bones weaker and slower to repair compared to men's. This doesn't even touch on the issues of morale/deployability/enemy treatment/lower standards and effectiveness/combat liability/ mental differences/cultural implications. Women are a liability on the frontlines. We're lying to ourselves as a country to say anything but. I was very happy to take this off and very grateful to the men who protect. Thank you to our troops. God bless America. 🇺🇸 🦅❤️ PS. Don’t call me a gun bunny. I’m not a fan of those. 😂

In two months, we’re moving to Columbus, Ohio. We just bought our first house there. Texas heat and year-round allergies pushed us to move north. After a long process of filtering options and traveling across different states, we decided to choose Ohio. I see a lot of business opportunities there in general, and strong potential to expand my appliance repair business specifically. We plan to launch appliance repair services in 3 metro areas this year. As a bonus, it’s new construction, so I’ll get exposure to many different home service industries from the customer side, and I’m excited about that. It’s my 4th year in the U.S., and my 3rd year running a business that made this possible. A country of opportunities, for sure.

The American Civil War was fought over slavery. Don't make me laugh. English papers in 1861 did not have the cartoonish views of today. Why is the South fighting? "We desire to be free from the control of the tax-imposing North--to develop the resources of our own land in our own way to enjoy the advantages which our geographical position gives us. We have no wish to interfere with the affairs of our neighbours, We are not aggressive. We desire only to be let alone." The North? "The response is 'Union !' We can understand what a man means when he says he is struggling to get out of the power of another, but how in the world is 'Union' to be secured by cutting throats?" According to the Dead Sea Scrolls written by the Essenes and preserved till 1947 at Qumran, the new year 5951 AM (Anno Mundi) started on March 18, 2026 (a Wednesday, labeled Tekufah Nisan/Spring Equinox). In case you’re not aware what that means, based on this calendar which traces back to Enoch and Adam, the Final 120th Jubilee has just begun. During this Jubilee, almost everything (up to Revelation 19) will be consummated. Most of us will be alive to see. Some of us who call ourselves Christian will be celebrating. Some will be disappointed. All sinners will be judged. Repent while you can. Trust & Follow Jesus. He’s coming soon.
