Out now: Our collaborative #Golgi #glycotime story, which shows (i) that B4GALT5, a Golgi enzyme, is subject to M6P tagging and (ii) that GOLPH3/GOLPH3L stabilize LYSET and the GlcNAc-phosphotranferase complex and thus are crucial to cellular M6P tagging. tinyurl.com/jkv26nhh

@hirenj ... or a protease-independent process. Curious also from which tissue(s)/cells NDST1 here is coming.

@hirenj Interesting - and we really don't have much of an idea of SPPL3 regulation. With the many substrates known, not sure it could actually catalyse a somewhat selective release of only one Golgi protein. Could also be another protease at play here...

nature.com/articles/d4158… Obviously lots of circulating glycoproteins, but my eye was drawn to the NDST1 association. Could this actually be suggestive of a hypothetical protective effect of increased shedding by SPPL3? @voss_lab ?
