Today is my father's birthday and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. His spirit lives on in his wonderful screenwriting and the Riskin films Frank Capra directed. Thank you @tcm @FilmForumNYC @CitizenScreen @ClassicMovieHub keeping the flame of old films alive.

Today Claudette Colbert passed on but left a great legacy with her fine career and as an activist. Strong character and spunk. My dad talked her into playing the lead role in It Happened One Night and the rest is history @ClassicMovieHub Hello friends who love old movies.

@atrupar Two things can be true at the same time. The murder of Charlie Kirk was a villainous, horrendous act. Trump & Miller are racists and would-be fascists. And, BTW, as far we know now, there was no "they" who murdered Kirk. It appears to be one guy, raised by Republicans.

In late 1939 the US was divided. Communist witch hunts had begun. Hitler had begun his round ups of Jews and his assault on England, but Americans wanted to stay out of the war. When my father wrote Meet John Doe he was warning fellow citizens about the rise of fascism.

His clarion call to us was to "tear down the fences that divide."

@DrJKWallace @msstate Thank you for telling your story. It's dispiriting yet a reminder that we (regardless of our race) must support one another.

Usually I don’t talk about stuff like this because frankly it happens way too often. But not today… As I pulled into the same faculty parking lot that I park in all the time @msstate, a white woman was coming out of my office building. Her car was parked next to the space I pulled into.

Remembering wonderful times with my friend #EvaMarieSaint who turned 100 today. She was charming and a great wit. Happy Birthday dear friend. Thinking about you!
