@808_flyer Almost all of these weren’t considered mid major when they played in their old leagues though

Wanna see something to frustrate the hell out of you? Over the last 25 years the following programs have moved from ‘mid major’ to ‘power’ conferences. Louisville Cincinnati South Florida Utah TCU Creighton Butler Xavier Rutgers Houston UCF BYU SMU Man that sucks

@IntoPitt I have heard very differently. More than last year but more so in the 8-10 range still. But again, we will see in a couple weeks with who each program lands

@vrkumar8 #pitt has a lot of money on the bench they were going to spend on getting rid of Capel Now they will go out and buy players I’m hearing about $10MM-$15MM bucks That ends the discussion right there

St. Louis looks like an NBA team compared to #pitt A school with a fraction of the budget of us What a waste of money we spent on Capel $28MM for nothing. We are sitting home watching this
DreamBackfield.com@IntoPitt

#pitt doesn’t have less talent than many of these teams in the NCAAT Capel has to be embarrassed that we are a 13 win team compared to what we see in the tourney today

@IntoPitt we will definitely see within the next few weeks with the caliber of player SLU or Pitt will be bringing in to test this

@vrkumar8 Ok dude St Louis has more NIL and a bigger hoops investment than #pitt going forward I give up. You are obviously sold on this bizarre tale. I’ll play along.

@vrkumar8 @IntoPitt Can’t speak to total numbers between both programs, but SLU gave Schertz a substantial raise and a very, very, very large increase in NIL for next year. A number that would compete in the BE.

@IntoPitt I never once said they outspend Pitt. You said it was a fraction and that was incorrect

@vrkumar8 sure ok. I own a private jet too. lol No source backs up your nonsense. #Pitt spends more than #stlouis on NIL (hoops only). Its not even close. Even if the number was $4MM/yr as you claim, #Pitt still spends more. There's 0 sources backing up your claim they outspend us.

@IntoPitt SLU is going to have more NIL committed going forward for hoops. That’s my point. That school is loaded. Rich Chaifetz and others want to win. Look at the players they got this year. Avila, Brown, Sharma, Dunlap, Thames were not cheap

@vrkumar8 Fine. $3.6MM per yr for Schertz If it makes you happy Still less than Capel and still less overall than #pitt when factoring in endorsements and NIL through 2029-30 I’m talking about committed dollars here

@IntoPitt They spent double your estimate this year. They are going to at least quadruple your estimate next year

@vrkumar8 You can't seem to add the total investment here. Here's my last attempt at breaking this down: #pitt vs #stlouis in hoops spending: salary & NIL for the same time period. Capel also has endorsements not included in the salary numbers which push his totals to around the $3.7MM yr

@IntoPitt No the practice facility is one piece, just mentioned it because capital investments aren’t included. Not even talking this year, next year or NIL - last year Pitt spent 11.9M on hoops, SLU spent 8.9. And in a similar fashion to Capel, they were paying Travis Ford 2.6M

@vrkumar8 So you are making this about a practice facility and not total investment? This is the dumbest argument ive had in a while. You were wrong about avg per year. Capel is $3.6MM per year. Schertz is less per year.

@IntoPitt What are you talking about? This is from 2024 when he left Indiana State. The extension he just signed last week is 6 years for 22M. I linked the NYT piece

@IntoPitt Again, you are really underselling what SLU has been doing. They were paying Travis Ford 2.6M! And again, they have a nice new practice facility, Pitt doesn’t And either way 2021 is irrelevant. SLU was more invested this past year and is WAY more invested going forward

@vrkumar8 If you add up the remainder of Capel's contract - its about $50MM bucks for NIL plus his salary for Pitt hoops since he started. St Louis isn't in the same galaxy as #Pitt for that type of investment in that period of time.

@IntoPitt Dude what chatgpt site do you keep getting these numbers from? Schertz signed his extension last week. He will be making slightly more than Capel

@IntoPitt No, Pitt’s investment doesn’t blow them away. SLU has a similar arena. SLU has a real dedicated practice facility. Pitt doesn’t have that still. Pitt spent 33% more on non NIL opex. Hardly blowing them away.

@vrkumar8 #pitt's investment blows them away. Its apples and oranges. You are making it sound like Pitt is under-investing in hoops AND they have a better coach. No, they just have a better coach.

@IntoPitt Again, all Im saying is, Josh Schertz will be making more per year than Capel next year. And he will have a bigger NIL budget. What even are these numbers?

@vrkumar8 no its not. We've already shelled out $28MM and there's left - about $12MM left on Capel's contract. That's $40MM bucks for Capel since he came here. Blows Schertz away. If you add #Pitt's investment in Capel and NIL, we are talking about a total budget of:

@vrkumar8 Yeah great ROI, Capel. Injury aside, $6MM bucks. Ok say $2MM went to Jackson, what about the other $4MM??? That only got us 13 wins? GTFOH That stinks, dude.

@IntoPitt Didn’t say Pitt is shelling out less than SLU but it’s way closer than you’re letting on. And next year SLU will have more for NIL. That’s not a lie. And again, Schertz just publicly signed a 6 year 22M extension which is slightly more than Capel

@vrkumar8 Yeah but if your so-called sources are telling you #Pitt is shelling out less than St Louis (even for hoops), they are lying to you. They also didn't spend $28MM on a coach. We have. Add up all of Capel's earnings since he's been here.
