I was able to celebrate Juneteenth at the @VirginiaMuseum where I am featured in the new #DeterminedVA exhibition. Truly a blessing! Thank you #VMHC #VirginiaHistory this is such an honor.

On 6/19/1865, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, slaves in the U.S. State of Texas were finally notified that they were officially free. Today, we celebrate freedom! Happy Juneteenth!

I watched #WhenTheySeeUs with my 13 year old students... I sent an email to parents, asking for permission and explaining why the students need to watch the docuseries. Thankfully, none of the parents had a problem with it. Shuu, what an experience!
