Alleged footage published by an American soldier shows HIMARS missile launches against Iran during the recent US-Iran ‘Ramadan war’ … from a neighboring country. Considering past experiences, this is likely Kuwait.

Don't you care about my little girl? A child who does not have toys that make her heart happy, Nor summer clothes to be relieved by the heat of this weather, Not enough food for her... All I want is for my child to live in peace, To sleep while she is full, And to see her smile instead of crying. Even the simplest things became a dream for us. Any help, even if it's a little, can make a big difference in my daughter's life. 💔 chuffed.org/project/137190…

@vuchienthang93 @Pataramesh So far it has only proven to be MRBM - range 1000-3000km. There are reasons to believe it is not an IRBM. It only has one stage, and has a conventional payload - heavier than nuclear. Cf eg youtube.com/watch?v=FexmZr… - Ted has other takes on Oreshnik with varying emphases.

Using Oreshnik has devastating effects on the morale of those targeted by it You can ripple-fire Patriot PAC-3 against Iskander, but there are no means to defend against Oreshnik Iran used Khorramshahr-4 against 🇮🇱 which could not be defended against either But... 1/2

@FredHunt @Pataramesh There is no way warhead can't go deeper than "10 m soft soil" the kinetic energy is enormous. Otherwise they'll use Iskander bunker buster. Also from the Kiev strike also prove its have CEP as small as 10 meters. If it has "250 CEP" there won't be any clip that close to impact

@vuchienthang93 @Pataramesh RS-26 IRBM repurposed to hold 36 kinetic 50kg "bullets", with a 250M CEP. They're incapable of going deeper than 10M of soft soil. You might spill your coffee in a well built deep concrete bunker if it takes a direct hit, but that's about it.

@TOzgokmen Nah they can still supply by the northern route sea line. No one can compete with Russia in this route. Of course as long as Russia still have oil.

Not sure if related, but I think the greatest difference between the Chinese Tian/Shangdi, and the Abrahamic God, is that Tian doesn't seek personal relationship with humans. He doesn't care if you believe in him or not, there's no reward nor punishment x.com/SPRequiem1/sta…

Japanese biologist Professor Masanori Kohda's groundbreaking research proves that the bluestreak cleaner wrasse fish (Labroides dimidiatus) exhibits self-awareness and private self-awareness. This discovery challenges the long-held assumption that complex consciousness and self-recognition require a large, primate-like brain.

@pastaraspberry @teortaxesTex Nah they survive "wagner march of justice". They should be fine. The benefits out weight the concern. Also these drone can be remote control from a center in Moscow with some relay stations or in future Russian Starlink-like devices.

@0xcoked we hit AGI by late 2027 🤣 you never achieve AGI with LLM . At best you can create some agents that work for small specific tasks . To mimic human intelligence you need entire different AI algorithms architecture , different computing hardware ( memristors+quantum +phontonic...)

When we hit AGI by late 2027~ (Leopold Aschenbrenner estimate), the following will happen: 1. Mass political unrest due to the Calhoun Effect -- where even something like massive universal income programs to substitute for income loss from AI-layoffs, especially to white collar careers, will not not be enough to stymy the vacuum of purpose created by AI taking your societal role and leaving you as a fat lab rat on universal income benefits. 2. A permanent underclass with 0 mobility from underclass to Elysium class (the founders, the rich). 3. Massive boom in crime as people will realize that crime is the only way to escape the permanent underclass into Elysium. Then it'll just be an arms race between high IQ criminals and the AGI/Elysium class in co-operation. One thing that I suspect even AGI will never be able to fully account for is the sheer irrational unpredictability of humans -- so that might mean there will always be an elite criminal class that is constantly able to counter-navigate the AGI overlords and penetrate into Elysium.

The vibes in SF feel pretty frenetic right now. The divide in outcomes is the worst I've ever seen. Over the last 5yrs, a group of ~10k people - employees at Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Nvidia, Meta TBD, founders - have hit retirement wealth of well above $20M (back of the envelope AI estimation). Everyone outside that group feels like they can work their well-paying (but <$500k) job for their whole life and never get there. Worse yet, layoffs are in full swing. Many software engineers feel like their life's skill is no longer useful. The day to day role of most jobs has changed overnight with AI. As a result, 1. The corporate ladder looks like the wrong building to climb. Everyone's trying to align with a new set of career "paths": should I be a founder? Is it too late to join Anthropic / OpenAI? should I get into AI? what company stock will 10x next? People are demanding higher salaries and switching jobs more and more. 2. There’s a deep malaise about work (and its future). Why even work at all for “peanuts”? Will my job even exist in a few years? Many feel helpless. You hear the “permanent underclass” conversation a lot, esp from young people. It's hard to focus on doing good work when you think "man, if I joined Anthropic 2yrs ago, I could retire" 3. The mid to late middle managers feel paralyzed. Many have families and don't feel like they have the energy or network to just "start a company". They don't particularly have any AI skills. They see the writing on the wall: middle management is being hollowed out in many companies. 4. The rich aren’t particularly happy either. No one is shedding tears for them (and rightfully so). But those who have "made it" experience a profound lack of purpose too. Some have gone from <$150k to >$50M in a few years with no ramp. It flips your life plans upside down. For some, comparison is the thief of joy. For some, they escape to NYC to "live life". For others still, they start companies "just cuz", often to win status points. They never imagined that by age 30, they'd be set. I once asked a post-economic founder friend why they didn't just sell the co and they said "and do what? right now, everyone wants to talk to me. if i sell, I will only have money." I understand that many reading this scoff at the champagne problems of the valley. Society is warped in this tech bubble. What is often well-off anywhere else in the world is bang average here. Unlike many other places, tenure, intelligence and hard work can be loosely correlated with outcomes in the Bay. Living through a societally transformative gold rush in that environment can be paralyzing. "Am I in the right place? Should I move? Is there time still left? Am I gonna make it?" It psychologically torments many who have moved here in search of "success". Ironically, a frequent side effect of this torment is to spin up the very products making everyone rich in hopes that you too can vibecode your path to economic enlightenment.
