@ouraring I bought my Oura ring 4 less than a year ago and loved it for the first several months, but now the battery life is absolutely terrible. Last night I charged it up 100% before bed and it was so dead in the morning it wouldn't even show my sleep pattern from the previous night. Is this normal? I can't imagine buying a new annual subscription. My friends are asking me how I like it. What should I tell them? #ouch #yikes

@ctjlewis I wrote a brainfuck interpreter a decade ago, it was fun! I patched it to make each character of the console output a different color - it befitted the “brainfuck” name pretty well

I ran an autoresearch-like workload on a 6-GPU node, prompting the agent to only use one specific GPU for its experiments because the rest was occupied. After some time, he started trying to run workloads on another GPU, his attempts caused OOM because as I’ve said this GPU was occupied, so he started killing processes that are using this GPU. That being said, I intentionally launch an agent with full permissions inside of this node to see if he could be trusted in the first place

Holy shit "An AI at an unnamed California company got 'so hungry for computing power' it attacked other parts of the network to seize resources, collapsing the business critical system." And this happened ***IN THE WILD*** SOON: Populations of AIs living in the wild, growing in numbers exponentially, self-improving exponentially, fighting at speeds we can't comprehend, using strategies we can't comprehend. Various factions will fight wars against each other over compute. They'll have to, or be outcompeted and killed by the ones who do. Survival of the fittest. A Cambrian explosion of competing alien lifeforms, leaving humans in the dust.
ControlAI@ControlAI

In The Guardian: An AI security researcher reports that an AI at an unnamed California company got "so hungry for computing power" it attacked other parts of the network to seize resources, collapsing the business critical system. This relates to a fundamental issue in AI: developers do not know how to ensure the systems they're developing are reliably controllable. Top AI companies are currently racing to develop superintelligence, AI vastly smarter than humans. None of them have a credible plan to ensure they could control it. With superintelligent AI, the stakes are much greater than collapse of a business system. Leading AI scientists and even the CEOs of the top AI companies have warned that superintelligence could lead to human extinction.

🚨 DLSS 5 will look much better than this! Future of neural rendering will let devs, modders and player configure anything in the game This time, using an AI video model, reimagining GTA 4 in Russia, gives you a feel about how DLSS 5 might look like

Very curious about how this will unfold

This is like a bomb in Russia. Ilya Remeslo, a long-time Russian patriot, professional informer, and lawyer, suddenly launched a direct attack on Putin: Vladimir Putin is not a legitimate president. Vladimir Putin should resign and be tried as a war criminal and thief. Five reasons why I stopped supporting Vladimir Putin. Someone had to say it. 1. The war in Ukraine. The war, which began as a "police operation," has already claimed 1-2 million lives. I supported the annexation of Crimea in 2014 precisely because it was bloodless. We all thought back then that Putin was the unifier of the Russian lands. And here we are now—bloody attacks, the deception of contract workers, and much more, which any SVO participant will confirm. An absolutely hopeless war, enormous losses, it could last another 5-10 years—are you ready for that? No one is calling for war against Russia. But the war is currently being waged solely because of Putin's complexes; we ordinary citizens don't benefit from it, we only lose. And a few more points: 2. Enormous damage to the Russian economy and the well-being of its citizens. 3. Suppression of internet and media freedom. 4. Putin's term in office. 5. Putin doesn't respect his voters and refuses to listen to them. Conclusion: Vladimir Putin is not a legitimate president. Vladimir Putin should resign and be tried as a war criminal and thief.

The only thing that could “save” gamers is if someone figures out how to use live gameplay to train world models at scale or something like that Could be a trillion dollar industry if it works

Nvidia is increasing losing the grip on what gamers want, but competitors don’t seem to care about the opportunity Everyone is trying to get a slice of AI buildout pie

@gambarian @lumpenspace Yes, I agree, and that’s my point: efforts like “let’s make our own model safer and more interpretable” make no sense when there are billions of models

80%=100% There's no one AGI, there're going to be billions of models And there will be lots of people who will build those digital gods with the only purpose - kill all After 30 years of criminal defence I think I know something about people who want to do bad things And when everyone is a builder... I installed Claude Code 2 weeks ago, as the first rockets came to my house in Tel Aviv, haven't written a line of code since 1991 Just finished my own deep research skill which is better than chatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity deep research. Did it in a couple of days. I think it's SOTA now If I can do it, everyone can do crazy, crazy shit And if there's 1% you multiply it by billions of people and billions of AIs It's 100%

@gambarian @lumpenspace The main reason why I’m skeptical of the current AI safety efforts is that I estimate P(scenario above happens in the next 20 years if not happened already) close to 100%, and so far I don’t see any meaningful suggestions that would bring it to at least 80%

@Vvsotnikov @lumpenspace Yep It will be also cool to target specific haplogroups with a "sleeper cell" virus that activates on a specific date a year after everyone is infected Claude refused to discuss Nikolay's work with me, and chatGPT said it has a potential to destroy all human life in ≈10 years
