@kenton1206 When you pay billions to screen Premiere League football, it has to be funded by all of us as subscribers won’t be covering the costs. I’ll be moving on when my contract ends. I could watch F1 on an App, but Sky have it sown up, so I can’t.

Cancelled SKY today. Latest increase was to £108.50 just for a TV package. Sky News is unwatchable, football is akin to loose women, dramas are infested with woke virtue signalling. About 90% of channels are just fillers. They offered a reduction to £87.50. Gone after 25+ years.

@TWBFarms Don’t forget that with white loaves there is a quantity of bran as a by product, and your other half has 🐎 you’ll know how expensive they are. Same with malting barley and brewers grains.

A tonne of wheat will make roughly 1,500 loaves of bread, so at 2026 ex farm prices there is only just over 10 pence worth of wheat in a loaf. Even if wheat prices doubled, the cost of bread would not double. The farmer carries the risk and does much of the work, yet ends up with only a tiny share of the final value. So who is profiteering here ? This is where government policy should be stepping in to restore fairness to the supply chain, after years of failure by both current and previous governments to stand up for farmers and consumers. Prices don't need to double, value just needs to be distributed more fairly and sustainably Farmers are not responsible for food price inflation. Anyone looking for the real source of pressure on food prices should start by examining recent supermarket profits.

I do not support increasing food prices for consumers. My comments were about the need for a fairer and more consistent supply chain for British farmers, not about making bread or other everyday food unaffordable. As many people in the sector understand, the farmgate value of wheat is only a small part of the retail price of a loaf, so it is simply wrong to suggest that improving returns to farmers would mean food prices doubling. The same principle applies across much of the food chain. The Guardian article has taken a comment about trade policy and farmgate returns and presented it in a misleading way. My point was that government policy has the power to materially affect the price farmers receive, and that British agriculture has been undermined for years by unfair competition, poor policy, and a lack of supply chain fairness. I believe consumers deserve affordable food, farmers deserve a fair return, and the country deserves a food system that is more resilient, consistent, and less reliant on imports produced to different standards. Reform’s agriculture manifesto has not yet been published, so any suggestion that this article reflects settled party policy is speculative.

Given Christian Horner never misses an opportunity, this is either his hinting at entering #F1 with John Deere...or a reference to a car being a tractor. Or a dig at the regs... Wonder which it is? 🤔

Diesel is not just fuel, it’s the backbone of the real economy: 🚛 Road haulage (most UK goods transport) 🚜 Farming machinery (planting, harvesting) 🏭 Food processing & distribution ✈️ Aviation (jet fuel linked supply chains) 👉 Petrol disruption = inconvenience 👉 Diesel disruption = systemic impact

@RogerHelmerMEP When you ask a Politican a question on a subject they have no real understanding of, you simply get ignorant answers. TV Presenters should restrict questions to topics their guest has a known knowledge of.

Tonight on GB News, Barry Gardener said that North Sea Oil would take ten years to come on-stream. In 2010, my former MEP colleague Nick Clegg said “No nuclear — it would take 10 years”. We’d have had it by 2020. Oh, and the industry says it could start pumping new oil fields in 3 months.
Tom Harwood@tomhfh

We can’t possibly build new nuclear, it would take ten years to come on stream! So said Nick Clegg in 2010.

@croftfootfarm @TWBFarms Quite and was about to reply in a similar. I despair at the quality of our current civil servants who should have a deep knowledge of the department’s they head. But alas they lack even basic skill sets.

@TWBFarms There are two things here Clive you didn't mention. The repository of knowledge SHOULD be in the civil service. Ministers decide based on advice and provide democratic accountability to the electorate. Successive govts have marginalised this expertise as they assumed retailers

🚨Adrian Newey did not attend the Chinese GP. After Newey publicly accused Honda of not being "ready" for an F1 project, Lawrence Stroll is now questioning his decision to make Newey, Aston Martin Team Principal. Stroll may be open to reconsidering Christian Horner as an option, as Toto Wolff and Mercedes have emerged as favourites to buy Otro Capital's 24% stake in Alpine. #F1

@natalieben As a contractor in agriculture 1. There are so few birds/mammals on land that allows public access due to dogs running off leads. 2. The most “nature” I see is where no public have access and so don’t go. “Nature” needs quiet and to not be disturbed.

This policy will come back to haunt @UKLabour Ideology will never outweigh pragmatism. Taxation comes from income, it is only available when there is income over expenditure. The lack of money available to government will surely get worse.
