The mother took her to the bathroom and found her underwear soaked in blood. Reynoso stood stone-faced in court Monday as prosecutors read those details aloud. He barely moved. He spoke once — when asked if he understood what was happening, he said "yeah." He was initially charged only with endangering the welfare of a child — not bail-eligible under New York State law. Because of New York's sanctuary policies, ICE would have been barred from picking him up. Investigators issued him a desk-appearance ticket so he would be processed and released. Federal agents cuffed him on his way out of the precinct. Read that again. New York's laws were designed to let this man walk out the door. ICE had to ambush him at the exit to prevent it. He now faces first-degree r∗pe and predatory sexual assault against a child — charges carrying 25 years to life. He has been remanded without bail and is due back in court April 27. A 5-year-old girl needed surgery because New York decided protecting illegal immigrants from federal law enforcement was more important than protecting American children from the people those policies shield.
