Instant Weather Ontario ⚡️
#ONStorm #ONwx Ready for a return to winter weather across Southern Ontario?? 😵‍💫 Sorry in advance for the emotional distress this post may cause… While we started off April on a warmer note last week, even hitting a new warmest temperature recorded so far for 2026 anywhere in Canada, with Hamilton notching 25°C on Friday, the upcoming week won’t be as friendly as we face a late season wintry blast. We’re already seeing that this evening with scattered flurries spreading across Southern Ontario, particularly around Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. In some areas, precipitation is more mixed, with temperatures just slightly above freezing, meaning not much of that snow is accumulating on surfaces. However, dropping temperatures overnight will see any remaining precipitation switching over to wet snow. Additionally, with temperatures hovering near freezing, there could be some icy conditions developing, especially with the rain and snow mix being seen today. While accumulating snow isn’t expected tonight due to marginal temperatures, we are looking at another heavier blast of snow later on Monday afternoon continuing into the evening. There is some uncertainty among the models on the exact intensity of this snow and how widespread it could be. Some models show locally up to 4 to 8 cm, particularly around the Lake Huron and Georgian Bay shoreline and into Eastern Ontario. It remains questionable how much of that snow will be able to stick to surfaces, as temperatures will be very close to freezing, especially during the afternoon on Monday when the heaviest snow is expected to fall. Regardless of accumulation, it can still lead to sudden reductions in visibility as these bands of snow move through. Gusts between 40 and 60 km/h late Monday into overnight Tuesday could also lead to some localized blowing snow. After the snow, temperatures are expected to plunge late Monday into Tuesday, with wind chills hitting the negative teens across Central and Eastern Ontario by Tuesday morning. Some areas could potentially feel close to -20°C. Certainly quite the weather whiplash from the gorgeous weather we were dealing with on Friday. But as we know, even in April we aren’t safe from winter’s wrath, as we often see our third winter sometime in late March or early April, and it’s arriving just on schedule. The good news is that our third winter is usually our last blast of winter weather until we get into true spring like weather later this month. And it should only last for a few days, as we are looking at the return of double digit temperatures possibly as early as Thursday or Friday. Fingers crossed this is the end of winter! More details on this wintry blast in a full forecast to be posted later tonight. Stay tuned! - Brennen

This storm is going to sideswipe Southern Ontario, Southern Quebec and Atlantic Canada on top of 160 million people Stateside. Air travel this weekend will be a nightmare with delays and cancellations. And that's just the start.

Statement by the Premier of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen: January 4, 2026 “🇬🇱 Let me state this calmly and clearly from the outset: there is neither reason for panic nor for concern. The image shared by Katie Miller, depicting Greenland wrapped in an American flag, changes nothing whatsoever. Our country is not for sale, and our future is not decided by social media posts. That said, the image is disrespectful. Relations between nations and peoples are built on mutual respect and international law — not on symbolic gestures that disregard our status and our rights. We are a democratic society with self-government, free elections, and strong institutions. Our position is firmly grounded in international law and in internationally recognized agreements. This is not in question. Naalakkersuisut (Government of Greenland) continues its work calmly and responsibly. We engage in dialogue, safeguard our interests, and uphold the international rules that also bind our partners. There is no reason for panic. But there is every reason to speak out against a lack of respect. 🇬🇱”

Why do I get the distinct feeling that Poilievre will never make it back to Parliament. 4 months is a long time and he could be quietly walked away when the dust settles.

Thanks to Donald Trump’s attacks on Canada, former Trump ally Pierre Poilievre, who once had a 20 point lead in the polls, not only lost his race to be Prime Minister, but he lost his seat in parliament, too.
