When I was living downtown I was throwing away $30,000 a year just so that I can live in a cool place. Instead I can own multiple properties and live passively wherever I want.

Even if the home does not go up in value you at least have been putting money into an investment that you can later leverage for more investments or overall just have that liquid cash in hand.
