Access Holdings is one of Africa's most powerful financial institutions, and that is not a small thing. But power and accountability must move together. When they do not, it is ordinary depositors who carry the cost. All figures in this thread are drawn directly from the audited 2025 financial statements of Access Holdings Plc, signed off by KPMG on 30 April 2026. Read it yourself. Knowledge is the only shield. Picture this: You steal another passenger's bag from the carousel. You get to the Customs scanner for arrivals in Abuja or Lagos. They find large volumes of gard drugs, undeclared cash, or other banned substances in the bag. You will never steal again. Anyway, in Nigeria, there is a 2-factor authentication system where all bag tags are confirmed manually by ground staff before you exit the airport. This is to prevent situations like this.
Raksha@caraksha103

I still don’t understand how the airports trust us not to pick any bag that we want

ZICHIS again! For a company that has spent less than four months on the NGX, the volume of negative news and excessive PR is simply too much.

I haven’t stopped thinking about this conversation since yesterday, and she’s actually right. In Yoruba culture, yes, we kneel fully for elders, but we’ve also all seen older women kneel for rich men, old men bow for rich women who are clearly younger than them. So let’s be honest… it’s not only about age. It’s also about status. That’s why this whole conversation is interesting, because I genuinely doubt many people would kneel that low if they knew she was a maid.

A few years ago I met up with a friend as she just had a baby. On getting there, an elderly lady was there carrying her daughter. I thought it was her mum so I knelt down to greet her. Then, alas, it turned out to be her help not her mother. When I got into the car I started asking myself questions, although the Yoruba culture is to greet your elders with respectful salutation. If I had known it was her help would I have knelt down to greet her. If I wouldn’t doesn’t that then defeat the custom. Thinking out loud.

@tosinolaseinde No need to 2nd guess this, greeting your friends mom and her elderly help are two different types things, just by your antecedents here I can tell you would still have respected her enough if you knew she was the help beforehand.
