@lady_valor_07 Why are the people lining up to pay coming from the direction of where you leave.
English

@lady_valor_07 First thing I think: AI slop.
Checkouts aren't oriented in such a way to make you walk back into the store at the end of the process, the whole checkout flow is facing the wrong way because the AI needed to really impress the grocery store vibe.
English

this feels like a mistake.. there are a huge php community on @X, and php should maintain a presence where its developers already are 👍🏻

English

@GaryMarcus @WebCoderz @sama I think Section 230 needs a massive overhaul...
But I can also understand with its existence why AI companies would want to be included within a similar framework of that's the "law of the land."
English

I would never live my life as Sam has lived his.
Take for example this brazen move to disclaim responsibility for other lives.
Of course I don’t endorse the violence. But I can’t endorse his attempts to deceive people about who he was with all that is at stake.
The quote I critique came out today after this and I just can’t overlook the contradiction.

I wrote this early this morning and I wasn't sure if I would actually publish it, but here it is:

@0xd34th You will come back begging when your little crypto startup fails
English

I offered a young engineer €350,000 salary to join my German startup
He declined
This is the most ungrateful generation I have ever seen
How can you reject such a package?
€41,000 - cash salary
+ €52,000 - multicultural city adjustment
+€48,000 - public transport adjustment
+€45,000 - universal healthcare adjustment
+€41,000 - GDPR privacy adjustment
+€38,000 - walkable city adjustment
+€35,000 - no tip culture adjustment
This is more than he would make at OpenAI or Google in the US
His loss, I already offered the role to a more grateful candidate at €290,000

@Watchman_motto If you're not into it, tell your neighbor they can do it if you want.
Unless you're absolutely NOT into it, which it doesn't sound like.
Your neighbor wants a project to occupy their time - it doesn't mean you have to invest in it.

I share about 100 yards of drive way with my ~70yr old neighbors.
For some reason he’s obsessed with knocking down the center grass in the middle of the tire ruts and covering it with gravel. He talks about it all the time, probably 30% of all conversations I have with him are about this. He’s asking if I want to pitch in for more gravel, etc.
When I put my parents in a guest house behind the barn, my dad started talking about it too. He got some roundup and sprayed his section of road.
Am I missing something here? I see no problem with it. It looks fine. It occupies 0% of my mind. I’m prepared to spend 0 dollars to remedy this “problem”
What is happening?

English

@QingpingHe1 @kevinrose They accidentally announced Mythos via a data leak.
This is nothing new, TBH. All frontier model developers sat on them for their own advantage until OpenAI started the public arms race.
Google had been using leading models internally for years but were too worried to release.
English

ok, theory, a frontier model creator lands a real breakthrough, they won’t ship it to the public first - they’ll aim it inward. their own products get supercharged, & suddenly you see a flurry of releases in rapid succession that feel almost unfair. everyone will wonder how they’re moving that fast…until the model finally gets announced.

@mike_smi5357227 @TheLaurenChen Hell, if you were at a semi-decent base and not really roughing it, we had steak and lobster every single Friday in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait back in the '00s.
English

@TheLaurenChen You just saw a meme and now think you know. I got this every year in the Marines
Troops get that on their services birthday and on holidays and Division related anniversaries too. It’s not uncommon
English

Sir, I'm going to hold your hand as I tell you this
Mike Bales 🫡🇺🇸@MikeBales
As most of you know, my son is a Sailor. He sent a picture of his lunch yesterday from the galley. I’m thankful that we are finally taking care of our men and women in uniform. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

This won't be confusing to PHP developers at all...
share.google/LYFJRakAJZG0AW…
English

@Matt_Pinner Hell yeah.
I'll let them miss a day because *I* am emotionally tired or mentally exhausted.
The economy transitioned to output, not ass in seats, a long time ago. If they're getting straight A's and doing well... We can take Friday off man.
English

@MikeMil00855997 @Harvey77865 @goneers For anyone looking for the link... share.google/D2UWdfvkvCVB48…
The TOTAL number (not just limited to non citizens) is around 1100-1400 over the past 14 years.
Nowhere near enough to impact anything or influence further investment (1k/yr/50 states).
English

@MikeMil00855997 @Harvey77865 @goneers Good news! I can! The Heritage Foundation, a conservative group, maintains a database of voter fraud you can easily find with a quick Google.
There are only 77 cases of non-citizens voting in the entire time they've been studying this (2012+).
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Can someone explain to me the difference between requiring Americans to have a Real ID to get on a plane and asking them to show that same Real ID in order to vote?
Why isn't it a hardship to get a copy of your marriage license or birth certificate in order to get a Real ID but it is in order to vote for the leader of the free world?
Make it make sense, please!
English

@goneers I'm, personally, in favor of ID like 83% of Americans, but... The SAVE act does so much more than just requiring a Real ID.
The *actual* answer to your question, is that voting is a right, flying is not, and Real IDs are not free (like rights are).
Fix that, I'm 100% in.
English

@KeruboSk I see the notification. But I'm busy so I think to myself "I'll reply later" and then promptly forget about it and never reply.
English

@BTCBreadMan Did your friend ask you for advice or input? If not, you don't say anything, it's literally none of your business.
Go do "not running other people's lives" or "small government" things.
I don't understand the desire or need to tell others to live how you perceive they should.
English

@bluewmist Throw away all of your socks. Then go spend $20-30 on 2 packs of socks that are EXACTLY the same.
Now, no matter which two socks you pull out of the dryer - they match.
