@alon_mizrahi Alon, I respect your opinions on Palestine so much and always enjoy your posts. I do think that while your wording wasn’t necessarily hateful, but the post supported a growing sentiment that is unfortunately hateful and bigoted.

My day-after thoughts about the Imane Khelif controversy First, I totally get why some people saw the attack of Imane Khelif as racist. I also get why some people saw it as a personally directed right-wing attempt to foment gender-based hysteria. I fucking get that, and I even agree to a degree (the racism part especially, as I see the Olympic games as a tokenistic capitalist-colonialist institution that cannot offer liberation to colonized and oppressed communities and groups). I am not just saying I get that: I do get that, and I understand perfectly well why people saw injustice in that. I do think, however, that dishonesty was also part of the reaction. A double dishonesty, as a matter of fact. What I found strange and dishonest is people's refusal to acknowledge that Imane Khelif does have male characteristics, like an XY set of chromosomes, and extremely high levels of testosterone. Now you are perfectly entitled to think this doesn't matter and should not be an issue, or that it's unjustly applied to only African women for racist motives. If that's your opinion I think it's valid, and I'll hear you, and be happy to learn from you. But what you can't do, and is dishonest, is to deny these facts to make the other side seem just plain evil. The other dishonesty I saw in that reaction was the decision to completely ignore the fact that the heightened sensitivity to sex and gender was not started by the right wing. It is a mostly right-wing reaction to a left-wing attempt to revolutionize male and female roles and definitions, most starkly represented in transgenderism. Here, too, you can say you are all for such a revolution and believe it corrects many wrongs. It's a valid opinion, and I don't have the slightest problem listening to people who believe this. I find this challenging and enticing in a positive way, even if I don't always agree. It is dishonest, though, to pretend such a push (to revolutionize sex and gender) does not exist in order to present the other side as just bigoted and hateful. - I am for an honest and open conversation, always, and one which is never rooted in a desire to paint the other side as erratically vicious. I don't think a sensationalist conversation centered around the perceived evil and shortcomings of 'the other side' is either helpful or healthy. - I also totally get why people were surprised, in a bad way, to see my post about men in women's sports. What I find a bit much is the amount of hate and character assassination directed at me over this. I may have spoken bluntly and may have been too quick to jump on a populist bandwagon (if I did, it's because I don't think in terms of us and them, so I never 'join' or 'boost', I just say what I feel at a given moment. No one should perform a survey before speaking about an issue. It is an absurd form of censorship and repression). But if one sentence that is provocative, but is not even particularly hateful, and calls for harming no one, is enough for you to decide you hate someone from now on, and that that person never again deserves to be heard, and enough to smear that person and call them names - well maybe you are not as virtuous as you imagine. - Personally, I am not here to be liked by any defined group of people (and I will not, as idiocy as well as sense is distributed irrespective of the imaginary left-right division line). I am here to express myself and also to encourage (or maybe someday inspire, Insha Allah) a more honest and open conversation specifically about 'explosive' issues. I don't think this gives me a license to offend people, and it was not my intention, so, on a very personal basis, if that's what I caused you to feel, I apologize. Not for my politics of philosophy, which I never do, but for any insensitivity I have demonstrated. - I do think that gender is mostly a deliberate distraction from class, so it was not and is not going to be a main issue for me in itself

Young people & people of color want desperately to vote for Trump’s Democratic opponent but won’t commit to someone funding the slaughter innocent Palestinians. To win, our Democratic nominee must support funding for healthcare, housing & education not Netanyahu’s genocide.

Thank you @TheGuyPearce. Most in Hollywood have stayed cynically and shamefully silent as a genocide unfolds in clear sight, but Guy and others like @CynthiaNixon and @MarkRuffalo have rightly spoken out. They are on the right side of history.

The images coming out of Rafah tonight are horrific. This terrible tragedy is a result of Hamas’ evil strategy of hiding its leadership, fighters, and weapons amid and beneath Palestinian civilians. Hamas started this war by showcasing its disregard for Israeli lives, and every day since it also shows its disregard for Palestinian lives by using them as human shields. To help bring an end to this war, international pressure on Hamas must increase to force the terror group to surrender and free the hostages.

“The insinuation that Jewish donors secretly plotted to influence government operations is an all too familiar antisemitic trope that the Washington Post should be ashamed to ask about, let alone normalize in print” -- From a 3,000-word article in today's Washington Post ("Business titans privately urged NYC mayor to use police on Columbia protesters, chats show") documenting how a cabal of billionaire Jewish supremacists have plotted to crush academic freedom and freedom of speech in our country in order to abet the Jewish Supremacist State's genocide in Gaza. @m7mdkurd Man we all heard you and it was SO OBVIOUS that you just misspoke, it HAPPENS. Everything you said before and after condemns massacres. Any sane person would shrug that mistake off. Everyone of your listeners knew it was a genuine mistake.

A video of remarks made by one of the speakers at yesterday’s protest in central London has been shared extensively online. Officers are aware of the remarks, the commentary surrounding them and the subsequent statements issued by the speaker. They are assessing the matter and as part of that assessment will be seeking to speak to the individual concerned. We will provide a further update in due course.
