Blowing dust is apparent across most of the combined Panhandles. Especially within areas of the current Dust Storm Warning, areas of near ZERO visibility can be expected and may look similar to this video. If you do not have to travel, especially along US-287, please do not.

Awful situation happening now along Hwy 287 3 miles SE of Quanah. Multiple vehicle pickup occurring in the southbound lanes. Listen to the vehicles slamming into each other. This is bad. @NWSNorman

I have been informed by NBC that I won’t be back with FNIA this fall and it has given me time to reflect and also to look ahead.    It’s disappointing  news but I want to thank my NBC family for making the last 17 years so special.  I’ll have lasting memories of my time there, especially with Rodney Harrison who has become a tremendous friend.   God has always directed me in these moments and while I’m not sure what the next step will be for me—whether it will be in football, in broadcasting, or getting more involved in church and community outreach —I know God has plans for my life and I can’t wait see them unfold. And I am reminded of one of my favorite verses in the Bible-Romans 8:28. “God works all things for His good for those who love the Lord.”

We’re currently in the first K-9 school of the year. Each of these dogs has successfully completed pre-training and has now been matched with their handler — forming the partnerships that will carry them through every mission ahead. Next week, they begin discipline training, specializing in either explosive detection or narcotics detection. But the work isn’t just for the dogs. Our handlers undergo rigorous physical training, including carrying 100-pound sandbags to simulate bringing their K-9 partner to safety if needed. Strength, endurance, and trust are critical on both ends of the leash. These teams are built through discipline, preparation, and commitment — all in service of protecting Texas.

@walkereditor Paul when slapped did not slap back but spoke. Read 2 Cor. 11 for a sampling of what Paul suffered without fighting back.

Okay, many have come out after the Minnesota church incident in anger and fear (contrary to the Scriptures), saying, "We need to arm ourselves, protect our churches, get a security team, etc." Yet, I found NO ONE giving ANY Scriptural justification. I am not saying there isn't any, but most were fearful responses to becoming a "victim." This is ironic in a day when people boast about being victims and wear their victimhood status like a badge of honor. So I poked the bear of those calling to arm church members, to kill those who persecute the church, and I asked them for Scriptural justification. Some doubled down on their bold assertions and still gave no biblical justification. Christians live by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord (Deut. 8:3). Christians believe in the sufficiency of Scripture (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:3). The great cry among Christ's followers throughout history since the reformation is "Where stands it written?" In other words, "Show me in the Bible where it tells me to do what you are saying Christians should do." After quite a few angry responses and some verbal abuse, this is the list I came up from people who profess to be Christians and from my own thoughts. I am hoping to write a blog post about this after all these texts are sorted out and considered in their context. But I would encourage you to search the Scriptures, read the texts below in their context, and form a view of self defense, church defense, and suffering from the entirety of what the Bible teaches, not neglecting the vast majority of texts that don't tell us to arm ourselves with physical weapons. We can't pick and choose the texts we like. We have to look at ALL that the Word of God teaches to have true biblical discernment. Christian "Self Defense texts" and texts that seem to teach the exact opposite. Rescue the Weak: Prov. 24:11; Ps. 82:4. Kill a thief in a home invasion Ex. 22:2-3. Help the weak, Acts 20:35; 1 Thess. 5:14. Buy a sword “dagger” Lk. 22:36-38 for twelve disciples, their wives, and children 1 Cor. 9:5. Sheep in the midst of wolves, Mt. 10:16. Sheep to be slaughtered Ps. 44:22; Rom. 8:36. Bear up under unjust suffering 1 Pet. 2:9. Strong man guards his house Luke 11:21. Arm yourself to suffer, 1 Pet. 4:1. Turn the other cheek, Mt. 5:39. Many texts on how Christians are to respond to persecution. . . Many texts that describe believers being persecuted. . . Many texts on loving our enemy and remembering they are the mission field. Many texts on love, the fruit of the Spirit, patient, kind, even when wrong, etc. Historical examples of believers being martyred. Note difference between being attacked by a robber, lunatic, not for your faith, and suffering persecution for your faith. Does the Bible teach we should not remain prey in the midst of predators? Does the Bible teach we should fight against, even with lethal force, our persecutors? Does the Bible teach we must make Christianity/the church “safe” with lethal force? Does the Bible say we are to live in fear? Why? Does the Bible say we are to live in anger? Why? What does the Bible say about the churches mission to protect itself, arm itself, and keep itself “safe” in the world? What examples do we have in Acts and Rev. 2-3 about Christians arming themselves to fight persecution, if any? Are there examples in church history, e.g., Foxes book of Martyrs, where Christians armed themselves or fought against their persecutors? Texts on God’s sovereignty over all and in situations of persecution. Texts on our days being numbered. Texts on the certainty of death. Texts on trusting the Lord. Texts on immortality and this world not being our home, and better to be with Christ. Texts on giving your life to gain it, dying for the Lord.
