@WriterJohnBuck @Latterdaytruth How does that rule out their being pre-existent matter? I don’t see how that follows.
English

@dfziklag Suppose one agrees it is good humans give “glory” to the virtue of Love, and agrees that one rsn to Love is for the sake of elevating Love’s reputation (glory).
Well, in Christianity, the Cross is the ultimate expression of divine kenosis and therefore Love; and God IS Love

@outrage70 @latinizedlogos @energeiologian This is not my experience, but I understand where you’re coming from.
English

@walkhumbl @latinizedlogos @energeiologian I think it's more likely to cause people to react against it and grow stubbornness in the other direction. I tend to just avoid using any gendered terminology unless using direct quotes or when speaking about Christ necessitates it
English

@walkhumbl @ChristianityOn Keep in mind that rocking back and forth isn't the only way that people handle stuff like that. For example I constantly pick my lips till they bleed. I've also done that with my face and scalp I've also cracked my Knuckles and every joint in my body all the time ever

@walkhumbl A lot of it is basically that they are just less disabled, and the more mild your disability, the easier it is too compensate
English

@latinizedlogos @energeiologian Isn’t it good to reify things so as to help people realize their error in focusing on it?
English

@energeiologian the divine feminine is not an ideal to strive forward to begin with imo
it reifies the existing unnecessary “masculinization” of the Christian God
English

@energeiologian When you say “deconstructed” the divine masculine, are you saying that the divine masculine has been destroyed such that the trinity/kenosis/etc. reveals that it [divine masculine] was really an “overflowing feminization?” Or am I misinterpreting

If you still think “why is there something rather than nothing?” Is a good question and supports theism, please read this.

This topic came up during the week, felt some need to rework the ideas from about a year ago. mlchen.substack.com/p/why-somethin…

Speaking of the devil (literally), Why won’t God annihilate him?

I believe Satan is one of the many demons.
English

@desertcynic @latinizedlogos the Word of God is also the Word of creation; and since humans participate in creation, Christ is thus also the Word of all historically contingent (yet passed down to be life-giving for future generations) texts like Scripture.
At least I think so anyways. Thoughts?
English

@desertcynic @latinizedlogos Well, historical context & linguistic analysis teach us that a proper transl of “God-breathed” is “life-giving,” and life giving for precisely the rsns it lists: useful for reproach, correction, and training in righteousness.
That scripture has spiritual meaning is bc Christ 1/2

CBT didn't work for me because when they started teaching it to me, I was like, "guys when are you going to start teaching me CBT, this is just critical thinking" and then I realized I had been self administering CBT through constant lesswrong exposure

CBT seems like the dumbest most useless therapy technique ever invented until you meet the kind of person CBT was designed for
English

@OrtiztheOther @thaddeusthought I see. Well I don’t share the view that a necessary condition of “Christianity” is that you must think only marriage is a sufficient commitment.
English

@walkhumbl @thaddeusthought The context of this entire conversation is Christianity.
Only marriage is a sufficient commitment.
Anything less is just not fully committing. That someone can betray a commitment, doesn't mean the commitment didn't exist.
