Spatial Equity NYC 2.0 is on the way! Two really exciting pieces of news: there will be more data granularity (you will be able to zoom to the street and see certain features) and (semi) automation of data where some layers will get updated daily or on another recurrent basis!

This is not a sidewalk

We are devastated to learn that a 66-year-old woman was killed this afternoon by a pickup driver while pushing a stroller in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. Our city failed to protect her. This intersection lacked basic protections for pedestrians, like daylighting or curb extensions.

These crashes are not distributed equally. Compared to the citywide average, we found serious injury crashes were: 📈 23% higher in the Bronx 📈 21% higher in the lowest-income council districts 📈 15% higher in the districts with the highest percentage of residents of color

4,224 people were seriously injured by crashes between January 2022 and June 2023. For every traffic fatality in NYC, 11 people are seriously injured. Today, we're launching a new dashboard to show that this preventable crisis requires bold action. ➡️ transalt.org/serious-injuri…
