@TheChrisLambert The thing is, i agree with your point to an extent, but i just feel like hereditary is the one where most things fell into place for him, even if the latter movies are more singular/interesting.

Beau is Afraid is actually his “best” in terms of artistry. Hereditary is excellent but it’s almost an exercise in style. Midsommar is…fine. But Beau is Afraid is an artist making the leap from “proof of concept” to full embracing his craft. Eddington is also a huge level up from the first two films. It’s fine if people prefer Hereditary/Midsommar. Aster is a compelling filmmaker. But Beau and Eddington embrace being visual literature moreso than just smartly made films by someone who wants to make visual literature.
