In Android 14 DP2 for the Pixel 6 and 7 series, ro.camerax.extensions.enabled now returns true. This suggests that these devices now have valid CameraX vendor extensions, though I don't know which one since @Wander1236's CameraX Info app crashes.

@oasisfeng @MishaalRahman You can't use overlays to add logic. They can only change values that already exist, like flipping a disabled feature flag.

@Wander1236 @MishaalRahman Traditional A/B test must be planned first and merged into the production version. It's usually a hard balance for QA and release timeframe. Much better if it can be pushed to some users in no time, without affecting the other users. We used Dexposed for A/B testing in the past.

So there are lots of new APIs in Android 14 that I'll talk about soon, but there's one new API in particular that I wanted to hear your thoughts on: OverlayManager. It's no longer internal and can be used by apps to create self-targeting FRROs. What will you use this for?

@oasisfeng @MishaalRahman FRROs are generated by the framework on demand. You could definitely set up some sort of A/B test to tell the app to generate an FRRO with a given value, but I'm not sure if that's easier than just using SharedPreferences instead.

@MishaalRahman Probably suitable for UI A/B test on the fly? Can FRROs be delivered outside Google Play Store? Like being downloaded directly from app backend.
