Fascinating paper. Knockout mutations that cause mRNA decay trigger the up-regulation of homologous genes, allowing cells to “compensate” for the LOF alteration. People who do CRISPR experiments will have to wrestle with these findings. Some thoughts… biorxiv.org/content/early/…
