@warden2430 @SleeperMLB Oh 100%. It was why a guy like Mikolas is still in the league, just an innings eater chad. If this theoretical pitcher threw 180+ innings a year he would definitely get overpaid by a bigger market team. But true value would be closer to what I stated previously

How much $ would you pay a pitcher if you knew they were 100% going to: ✅ Pitch exactly 6 innings ✅ Give up exactly 3 runs

@SmartestMetsGuy @SleeperMLB The is so few pitchers can go 6 innings routinely these days I would imagine a pitcher in this range would be overpaid for often. Like Logan Webb got 18 mil a year and he fits the criteria

@SmartestMetsGuy @SleeperMLB I think that’s the right contract range - also the rest of the rotation and need for an innings eater comes into play but that isn’t part of the question lol

@SleeperMLB Probably around $10-15 mil. Thats a 4.5 era on the season, not great but the innings helps. Starting pitchers aren’t cheap so about $15 mil is as high as I’d go. A good offense should be able to cover 3 runs.

@CoachHPrice Yeah I do feel that recruiting other teams players in season eventually took a toll on him. Was hard to get an offer out in a handshake line

This should tell you how bad the work life is for college coaches. The guy had the setup to make a dynastic run and left. The fact is college coaches don’t want to spend 365 days a year recruiting between their own players, transfers, and high schoolers.

BREAKING: University of Michigan coach Dusty May has agreed to become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell me, @AdamSchefter, @PeteThamel. Major college-to-pro jump for the 2026 NCAA championship coach and swing for the Mavericks and Masai Ujiri.

@warden2430 I support women being umps, but I'm going to hold them to the same standards that I hold the male umpires to. She's just not good at the job.

Jen Pawol deserves the same thing every MLB umpire deserves...to be judged on performance alone. Not extra criticism. Not extra credit. Not extra leeway. She's relatively new and I wouldn't put her in the Angel Hernandez category yet, but this is hard to watch.

@jjccjmc97 As a cardinals fan - her late call coupled with 0 consistency, and calling pitches strikes 3 feet off the plate but balls down the middle balls. What a joke

Jen Pawol has been an atrocious ump behind the plate every time I watch her. 3 challenges in the first half of the first inning that were clear strikes. If you’re going to force women into these spaces, maybe hire a female ump that can see over the catcher. My God 🤦‍♂️

@BigJoeGun @JomboyMedia That was the issue - the slow slow call from the ump 1. Causes the player to be halfway to the dugout when he challenged and 2. Gives the hitter extra time to figure out what he wants to do. This ump has been a problem all year doing this

@JomboyMedia Or is he more upset about how long the umpire takes to make the call? Dude took his sweet time all game long

@john39102 @HugeMike3 @JomboyMedia Issue is that the verbal call was 3 seconds after the catcher caught it - the umps slow call caused all of this mess. Cardinals had every right to be pissed because the player was 5 steps to the dugout. If he stayed put no issue

I’m good with it, with how much they use Herrera as a DH, you almost need that third catcher with how demanding the C position is, you don’t want to lose the DH early in a game because of your roster construction. Also from a clubhouse and teaching Herrera and Crooks how to prepare for games and stuff, no better guy than Pedro. I’m perfectly fine with it.

@balkwhisperer But a play was 100% being made on him - there’s no part of the rule that says 80% effort, it says an effort. Which happened

Andy represents a lot of fans that do not understand the rule. He thinks the runner is out for leaving the base path. Runner can run ANYWHERE until a play is being made on him. At that point he has 3 feet either side from where he is at that time.
Andy Kostka@afkostka

This was a rather dubious decision, to put it mildly. Ernie Clement left the base path to avoid Gunnar Henderson's tag. He should have been called out. Instead of an inning-ending double play, Clement was ruled to not have left the base path, and he scores on the next play.
