ask not what you can do for your country, nor what your country can do for you, ask that your personal, indefatigable white whale leads you into international waters. ask that yours is a righteous monomania to honor the gather of willing crew members from every corner of the map.

detained by gestapo on the way to the draft appointment, held in detention long enough to be convicted for draft dodging, sent to forever war as the first wave of prison labor force; survive, get left behind, be declared AWOL; bombed as enemy operative for morning highlight reel.

that we are chock-full of quasi-philosophical suspicions that have more definite analogs in the extant literature. Then you fill out future syllabuses with those analogs and responses, and you fill out your classes with real engagement and oral exams. Recoverability is the point.

that some methods are perfectly serviceable in some domains but fail to scratch the surface of others, that some methods protect you against mass and self-deception, that people know more than they realize or can readily articulate, that academic jargon isn't inscrutable,

Ntp, but this would be an excellent, slate-cleaning method if you teach with the suspicion that philosophical inquiry is methodology-independent, &"higher" philosophical questions (with gentle guiding) can be recovered after catastrophic information loss through workshopping info

I had a student of Quine as a professor and on the first day of class he told us all to drop the class because all his lecture notes burned in a fire and he could not remember how to teach the class anymore.

Worse, I'd play Super Smash Bros. with a group of people, forget who I'd chosen to be and mistake a combatant as under my control (though, perhaps, a tad insubordinate). More than once I'd believe myself valiantly executed only to rediscover my true-self philosophizing in a nook.

The local mall had an arcade tucked into its far corner; when my 50 cents ran out, I'd wander around pretending to play. At some point, enthralled by excerpts of bloody carnage from players past, hands pressing the controls, I'd believed I'd died over and over again but for free.

@washingtonpost Everyone is correctly thinking Trump, but this gambit, as far as I can tell, was popularized by the tyrant Pisistratus.

when you launch your nukes and it curves around in the guts of your purloined land like an ingrown hair/ here ricochetting off the neath of a highrise/ there finding berth in plaits of subterranean tunnel/ releasing mauve borborygms quickly assimilated by the pre-turgescent state
Council Estate Media@cem_uk_

Kinda awkward when you start a war to destroy nukes that the other side doesn't have and instead they destroy the nukes that you do have 👀

@GambelerQuail I'd argue redcels and terfs already recognize they have qualities stereotypical of the "opposite sex." They self-deceive by overdetermining gender essentialism as a balm for self-esteem; that by codifying contrastive difference they thereby increase in shares of social arbitrage.

Ppl are pushing back on this as misogyny but I basically agree. The typical young redpiller wants to *be* the spoiled princess girlfriend and resents women for traditionally taking the passive role in dating. They do not want to perform male gender roles that require agency.

The Theroux documentary shows how the men of the Manosphere want to be alpha and victim, patriarch and bachelor, wealthy and jobless. They want to "have it all." They want, in other words, to be a girlboss. playboy.com/read/entertain…

maybe your first experience with underscores was underwhelming, maybe proto-Audrey Hobert & post-Seth Bogart aren't for you, maybe you like Oklou c.2025 and early 2000s r&b, maybe let underscores' fantastic new album 'U' change your mind, and your heart, and maybe even your life.

the apple tree under the sea is great work. I love whatever is in the air pushing songs like moses to the front of the modern wave; it's what Oklou and Night Tapes and Nourished by Time are similarly successful at.

... we hear it in HOT TO GO!, which is a rendition of Hey Ya! filtered through the same instrumentation as Seth Bogart's debut album. hemlocke springs is a capitalization of that 2010-11 sound we find in CSS's La Liberacion-- an unabashed post-late-indie sleaze worth seeking out.

@HeerJeet The Milo Minderbinder effect. There's a reason war-neutral nations have banking empires and "free ports."
