June is Pride Month! Historically, Pride gatherings emerged from the first large-scale protests for 2SLGBTQI+ rights. In Canada, the first demonstrations took place in Ottawa & Vancouver in 1971. By 1973, Pride events were held in several Canadian cities, including Winnipeg.

Q5 I do like using the term 'gameful thinking' as we enthusiastically apply gaming sensibility as the technology engages kids. For example, we had kids doing robotics and coding...which has high engagement and opportunities to apply gaming aspects. #mbedchat

Q2 Something I do enjoy is how it can build community. My Esports teams has a wide range of students, who come together and function like a team, which for some of them is the first time they are experiencing what it is like to be part of a team. #mbedchat

@LizYingling3 Agreed! I was at a conference on VR, and was scaling ice forms in Antartica as a guided expedition and it was amazing to think the experiences we will be able to give students.

A5 I think virtual reality in a History class would be amazing. Feeling like they are a part of history makes it so much more engaging and fun to learn! #MBEdChat

@MissFriese @mbedchat1 @LanglieTeri I agree, it may not be a silver bullet for all occasions, but if it helps students regulate, build skills, develop reasoning and make connections with others, why would any educator not want to utilize games.

@mbedchat1 A4: I believe games that are curriculum based are good ways to help students learn while also having fun. Games can be learning tools and not just looked at as rewards. @LanglieTeri #mbedchat

@mbedchat1 We had two camps going...one was for beginners and the other was for more intermediate. This summer we are going to include 'how to DM'...

Q2 Also, I love how role playing games engages students imagination, and enthusiasm. This past summer we ran D&D camps, and the kids where dressing up and really got into the spirit of the game play. #mbedchat
