@Soul_StormOP Bad acting? Don't know about that mate, not when Inaki gave that peak performance in episode 1 of s2 with that laugh and later during little garden when under the influence of the paints. And most of the cast is the same deal when you point at certain scenes

One Piece Netflix Live Action Season 2 - 8/10 (general score) + 5.5/10 (personal score) ✅ . Definitely a step in the right direction. A lot of what I criticized in my Season 1 review still stands, but I am pleased to say they improved in many aspects… while also getting worse in others somehow…? . I enjoyed it more than the previous, mostly because they didn’t make huge changes to the plot and followed the source more faithfully, with most of their “additions” being great expansions or unobtrusive character moments at the worst. But it still suffers from many of the same issues. Their adaptation of Luffy for one, excluding the bad acting, is still horrible and in many ways got worse. Powerscaling wise the way the LA portrays him you’d think he could be beaten by Sanji like how do you have him get one shot by Alvida and need the help of two people to defeat WAPOL?? Even character wise they still can’t get him right as there’s really no ounce of ruthlessness in Luffy. Instead it’s replaced with kindness that makes him seem more like an altruistic hero than a pirate Take the Laboon singing scene for instance. It’s good in isolation but should have happened after he and Laboon fought. In the manga he literally breaks off Merry’s mast and stabs him with it initiating a fight that lets him vent out his anger, but in the LA he just sings to calm him down. Like I’m sorry but that is not Luffy. And no this is not a budget issue, you don’t need CGI Devil Fruit powers to make him feel like the powerful force of nature he’s supposed to be, it’s simply incompetent writing. And that goes for many other characters in this season as well like Robin, Sanji, Wapol, Ms. Goldenweek, etc. That being said they also did a fantastic job with some others like Usopp, Dalton, Tashigi, Hililuk and even though their adaptation of Wapol was horrible I gotta give props to the actor he did a great job given his role. Now the thing that got noticeably worse this season is the scale and cinematography. It’s most obvious in fights where nearly every one of them takes place in a cramped room with shitty backdrops, but even outside of that 70% of the storyboarding is just close ups and mid shots. Compare that to the dynamic framing of Oda’s panels and use of setting and its night and day how uninspired the LA looks. There are instances where it genuinely looks great but they are far and between, the visual quality is just so inconsistent. To season 1’s credit I do not remember it being that bad in this aspect apart from practical effects and CGI Speaking of fights it is immediately evident which ones used Mackenyu’s team and which ones did not. They should just make them choreograph everything or get another team because most if not all that weren’t done by them were laughably bad There are glimpses of greatness that can be seen throughout the season and some episodes are genuinely good (especially Episode 7) but unfortunately it’s not consistent enough. One aspect I’m happy they nailed though is the crew dynamic it makes much more enjoyable to watch. In all season 2 was less consistent in terms of quality, but it had higher highs and less lows with only two episodes (beginning and finale) that I’d consider outright horrible. Quite a marginal improvement over season 1 I’d say. Excited for Season 3!

@Soul_StormOP Luffy recruiting chopper scene is the biggest downgrade imo, indoor instead of outdoor, worst acting bit in the entire show by Inaki, strips down everything special about that scene.

OPLA S2 EP8 Everything up to Wapol’s defeat was straight poo from the butt and didn’t get much better after that. I’m not even gonna bother writing a review for this one Crocodile was cool tho

@ruallsion People saying it's bad and wacky on purpose, even in the show itself there's good wacky costume like Crocus or Buggy. They just need to get the wig and costume team from fallout / witcher and they still can maintain the colorfulness

The costuming in the show is so weird. On the one hand it’s all fairly accurate, but on the other, it just looks fake. It doesn’t look like clothing. It looks like costumes.

Oda about One Piece: One Piece may be a humongous story, but I love for people to enjoy the casual banter on the ship between the Straw Hats. Or the relationship with the people they meet on the various islands. It's those little things that matter most to me. So I hope you read it casually. I always tell people that Manga isn't a big deal. It's a way to kill time. I want to be the king of wasting time, so I hope people just read and watch it casually.
