Evolving. Not bitter — just better.

A Muslim woman, Fatima al-Fihri, made history in 859 CE by founding the University of al-Qarawiyyin in Fez, widely recognized as the world’s oldest continuously running university. Her vision transformed a place of worship into a thriving center of learning that drew students and scholars from across the Muslim world and beyond. Among those associated with this great institution are Ibn Khaldun, the pioneering historian and thinker, Maimonides, the renowned philosopher and physician, Leo Africanus, the famous traveler and geographer, and Al-Idrisi, celebrated for his remarkable contributions to geography. This enduring legacy stands as a powerful reminder that the pursuit of knowledge has always been central to Islamic civilization and that Muslim women have played a foundational role in shaping the intellectual history of the world.
