Mallard ducks can see about 100 million more color combinations than humans can. Masters of a craft have a version of that advantage, too: they perceive distinctions the rest of us can’t yet see. A 10× builder doesn’t just work faster, they notice differently. Call it taste. Call it quality. Call it discernment. At this moment, the key advantage that humans have over AI is two-fold: 1) purpose, or 'what matters?' and 2) that creative edge of quality, judgment and taste. I'm delighted to start an interview series on "Seeing Excellence", where I interview people I admire to understand how they see, so I can sharpen my own eye, and hopefully help you sharpen yours. Very excited to have my friend Brian Hale, Chief Growth Officer at @DoorDash, whom I consider one of the finest minds in the discipline of Growth, as my first interview.

You know, I absolutely love Design.
I do not care about AI a single bit.
It could go away tomorrow and I wouldn’t care.
Of course, I use it, same as many other tools. But the secret is to never fall in love with your design tools more than the act of designing. They come and go. I care about AI as much as I care about Photoshop. Zero.
I simply just love to Design and I’ll do it in one form or another for the rest of my life.
