Today I emailed publishers about a concerning practice a board game media creator engaged in. This will become public, so I'm providing the details here to give the full context of what I shared.

@Lordeoftheboard Different names in different games. For Cuba Libre it’s Syndicate and Cartel in Andean Abyss (if my memory isn’t failing me). Warlords in A Distant Plain.
English

@essell_37 It's been long enough since I last played, I really don't recall - but as it is app driven that might make it more limiting on how you could add in another person. You could have players share responsibility for a character, I suppose? 1/2

@WatchItPlayed hi, quick question if that’s ok?! A friend wants to play Lord Of The Rings : Journeys In Middle Earth at our next game night, but it’s for 1-5 players and there’s 6 of us. Can we still make it work?? Thanks!
English

@seaarepea I’ll still be around these parts to post videos. Just less of the personal gaming stuff.
English

@WatchItPlayed oh well.
I'm not going to follow you but hope you have success in getting views there.
Will you mind if i keep posting links to your 'flipping' videos on twitter?

@RagingKileak @meanpomelo “if the (subjective, personal) opinion (on a subjective personal experience) is flawed” opens a can of worms I don’t think either of us have time to dissect.
English

@WatchItPlayed @meanpomelo I think my main message to reviewers (bearing in mind I am one) is to play the game more than once. There are now thousands of “us” and statements about one’s “honesty” are irrelevant if the opinion is flawed. Becoming very clear that many aren’t playing the games they review.
English

@meanpomelo And there’s still value in your subjective take… but don’t get high on your own product. You are still a bias machine, filtering everything through massive conscious and subconscious bias.
English

@meanpomelo Negativity is not inherently more honest than positivity, no matter how many affirming comments you get from viewers saying “thanks for telling it like it is”. THEIR misplaced bias, doesn’t make “your biases” more “T”rue. Your subjective experience will always be… subjective.

@HenriWhitehead You conquered the rules! Not surprised :)
English

@Andy_at_8 I want to. I have to develop the habit, and other habit building is taking the priority right now. But it is my intention!
English

@WatchItPlayed Please post to Bluesky, I’m trying to leave this platform
English

@meampongan @DanThurot I’m quite confident that’s it. And that’s a great reason. This is one I also want to try.
English

@DanThurot I was caught by surprise by how much I love this game. Maybe it’s because I like saying “my millkshake brings all the dukes to the yard”.

Having only played it once, I never understood the obsession with Obsession. Recently, a colleague recommended I take another look. I'm glad I did. My review (sorta): spacebiff.com/2024/08/28/obs…
English

@OldManMerton Yeah, the big box is what I have. I'll admit, I was kind of curious about this edition, as the box is smaller (space saver) and I'm not sure I need all the various extras. That said, I'm happy to have what I do have!
English

@WatchItPlayed It only took *thirty years* almost but I finally played El Grande for the first time last week. And then proceeded to play it 7 times in a row. Man, it lives up to its prestigious hype. Great game. That new version is pretty, but I've got the Big Box Anniversary ed. so I'm happy.
English

@board_game_wire @OldManMerton @613mandi I wasn't sure if it would work, but it seemed to. Those gamers felt like they were "in on the joke", so they laughed along, rather fill the comments with their disdain for the game.
English

@meampongan I couldn't be sure, but I was delighted when it worked!
English

@treasuretrevarr Wild - good job being quick on the draw!
English

@WatchItPlayed Yes it did! I suppose they didn't print enough copies given how difficult it is to find now, but I got a copy when the reprint first landed this past February.
English

@WatchItPlayed It was available at the start of the year! Sold out really fast, so it was hard to get a copy unless you pre-ordered.
English

@cardandpixel That was a super FUN gaming session we had :)
English

There's many games i would never have got my head round were it not for @WatchItPlayed and meeting the mighty plaid-clad Rodney to play Rajas of the Ganges is still my gaming highlight
