I’m afraid that if President Trump really wants to continue the blockade for months while minimising the impact on US consumers, there’s only a (bad) way: more SPR releases and/or oil export restrictions. The White House has consistently said neither is on the table. Let’s see.

Less than 10 hours after Trump announced ceasefire extension, Israeli explosions reported across South Lebanon today, this one in Khiam. A growing disconnect between Washington and realities on the ground

The body of the Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was found by rescuers after several hours of digging in the rubble after an Israeli strike. She is the fourth journalist to have been killed by Israeli forces in seven weeks. This is why the word ‘journacide’ is now being used.

The body of Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil has finally been retrieved from under rubble. Amal and colleague Zeinab Feraj had taken shelter after an Israeli strike on a nearby car but the building they ran into was then hit, burying both in rubble. Emergency crews sent to help were then attacked. They found badly injured Zeinab and 2 other bodies but the crews were prevented from reaching Amal, who was injured but alive, until it was too late 🧵

While the rest of Europe wakes up to a clear Spring morning, Kyiv looks like this. Several innocent people killed including a child because russia continues to attack the capital. Despite it not making the news anymore, Ukraine continues to be under attack daily. 📹: @Liberov

@keira_con I saw five Gardai being set on fire in Burger King on O'Connell St the other night, as they ran for their lives, everyone cheered and nobody called the Fire Brigade.

I think the present government has destroyed the relationship between the public and the Garda Síochána for good, Having a late lunch in a resturant and four members of the guards walked in three males and a woman. Suddenly the place went quiet, they were seated, Other customers and staff looking at them. Their order was taken and shortly after the owner or manager went and asked them very politely to leave the premises as they were not welcome, that their presence was upsetting other customers and would they inform their colleagues they are not welcome either, As they walked out the door tail between their legs people clapped and cheered it was surreal.

I have a medical appointment at 9 a.m. on the south side of Dublin this morning. I had one yesterday. Plan ahead, and you will make all your appointments. #NeverForget In June 2020, Ireland was in full lockdown. Fear porn was everywhere; only 10 people were allowed at funerals; emergency rooms were empty; hospital staff were dancing in corridors; and you were told to stay within 5 km of your home. Yet these protests took place. The people of Ireland need to stand with hauliers, farmers, bus companies, and taxi drivers. This government have prepared the nation well, we are built resilient. Some of these representative organisations need to take a hard look at whom they represent, as they appear to be government puppets at this time. #StandUpIreland #FuelProtests *On a side note, €866.4 million for 2026 has been set aside for overseas development aid. rte.ie/news/dublin/20…

The Irish government have announced they're sending in the "Defence Forces" to remove farmers and lorry drivers protesting across the country. They can bring in the army to remove struggling workers yet not defend borders? High treason!

A Trump insider opened a $51,000,000 oil short position — hours before Trump announced a ceasefire with Iran. This guy is now 16 for 16. $170 million in profit. A perfect streak. This is not a talented trader. "We placed the bet." "The ceasefire dropped." "We cashed out." Sixteen times in a row. That is not skill. That is not instinct. That is not research. That is someone who knows what is coming before it comes. Think about what that actually means. A private individual is placing a $51 million bet that oil prices are about to collapse — hours before a sitting president announces a ceasefire that collapses oil prices. Not once. Sixteen times. Zero losses. There are only two explanations and both should terrify you. Either someone inside the White House — or with direct access to it — is leaking ceasefire negotiations to traders before diplomats, before the press, before the American people hear a single word. That is insider trading. That is corruption. That is a federal crime. Or the timing of the announcement itself is being shaped around the trade. Which is worse. This is not a genius investor who reads the news faster than you do. The news hadn't happened yet. He wasn't reading the news. He was getting a phone call. While Americans were watching the ceasefire announcement and feeling relieved — somebody already knew. Somebody had already bet $51 million on it. And somebody was already counting their winnings. You are not watching a free market. You are watching a White House with a side hustle. Via~ Really American

This is central Beirut, close to the American University of Beirut. Nobody in these neighbourhoods would expect to be targeted; no warnings given. Displaced people are sheltering all around these locations. Israel has committed a huge massacre in Beirut.

@intheWildHills If they had planned any of this right they'd have blocked off Stephen's Green, all around Dail Eireann and Ballsbridge. They'd have had a meeting with government by lunchtime yesterday. Blocking O'Connell St and Eden Quay is the dumbest thing possible.

All the farmers & hauliers on O' Connell Bridge on such a fine night, standing round, chatting, laughing, are making the centre of Dublin look more appealing than I've seen it look in decades. It looks like a European city with a street culture. Maybe that's the way it should be.
