180,000 of you now. I satirize from the perspective of insiders who will never say these things out loud. Pentagon auditors. Hedge fund compliance officers. Health insurance denial architects. Congressional ethics staffers. Oil traders with 21-minute windows. HR directors who renamed layoffs. Surveillance vendors. Opioid settlement lawyers. Deportation logistics coordinators. AI safety researchers who watched the guardrails come off. To every subscriber who reads the quiet parts with me. To everyone who's left a comment, shared a post, or tagged someone with "this is literally my industry." You're the reason this work reaches the people it's about. I write confessions. You make them travel. The community interaction is genuinely the best part of this — not the numbers, but the replies where someone says "I thought I was the only one who noticed this." You weren't. You just didn't have a narrator yet. Thank you. The work continues because you keep showing up for it.

France’s justice system is independent and that independence is precisely what ensures the law applies without political interference. Free speech is not a shield for illegal contents or the humiliation of women online. Protecting digital rights means enforcing rules that keep people safe. That’s the French and European approach.
Pavel Durov@durov

Macron’s France is losing legitimacy as it weaponizes criminal investigations to suppress free speech and privacy. The U.S. Department of Justice has refused to assist France in its investigation of @elonmusk, calling the case politically motivated. The French prosecutor’s office claims to be independent, but that is untrue: French prosecutors are hired, fired, and promoted by the government. The judicial police — who provide often misleading reports to investigative judges — are also controlled by the government. 🎭 I’m under a similar investigation in France: over a dozen charges, each carrying up to 10 years in prison. Proud to stand alongside Elon Musk and others targeted by Macron's campaign against digital rights. In Macron’s France, being investigated is the new Légion d’honneur.🎖

European governments are getting WhatsApp and Signal out of their system. The move is part of Europe's search for alternatives to American technology, sparked by fears of being strategically dependent on Washington. 🔗 politi.co/41xZZbU

@TimSweeneyEpic Once I wrote that we needed a tech voice like Tim Sweeney in the EU. I hereby declare that I changed my mind.

All major AIs have documented instances of going off the rails; all major AI companies make their best efforts to combat this; none are perfect. Politicians demanding gatekeepers selectively crush the one that's their political opponent's company is basic crony capitalism.
