𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧 The funding highlights a shift in the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) space, where most providers rely on interest charges, late fees, or consumer-linked costs to generate revenue. However, 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵. Instead of charging users, the platform generates revenue from merchants and brands, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲. ✅Consumers can split payments at no cost ✅Merchants fund the financing in exchange for increased sales. Businesses are then charged based on completed transactions, not clicks or impressions, effectively turning marketing spend into a driver of financing. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 In South Africa, where borrowing costs remain high and financial pressure is widespread, demand for flexible, low-cost payment options is growing. Happy Pay's merchant-funded model represents a meaningful rethink of how consumer credit can be structured, by moving costs away from consumers and onto the commercial side of transactions.
