@ughfinewhatever close your eyes. imagine yourself in a dark room. all you see is darkness. voila.

@SydSteyerhart The Oregon Trail Generation from 77 to 83 followed by millennials 84-96 makes more sense
English

It's weird group people born in 1981 and 1996 together as the same generation. They have virtually nothing in common.
The technological and cultural gap between 1981 and 1996 is wider than the gap between 1900 and 1965.
World of Statistics@stats_feed
Millennials (1981-1996) are now between 30 and 45 years old.

Why red teamers are losing:

Tim Urban@waitbutwhy
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?
English

@DavidKastille @ChrisPacia there's always a group level. that's what makes us human.
English

@wbic16 @ChrisPacia There is no "group level". These are private votes with no coordination.
English

@Mike21538943329 Most of the support has come in the form of retweets and likes. Red voters are just a vocal minority.
English

@Mike21538943329 that's been a persistent comment. I'm not sure I believe it.
English

@sentientdreamer @SteveGrant1862 my assessment was roughly 40-45% blue without action, so pushing for 51%+ did the most good.
if the prior is more like 10% blue, I'd obviously push red to minimize losses.
The problem is knowing how close you are to disaster already. the chart shows both.
English

@wbic16 @SteveGrant1862 If you care about "group survival" preaching the virtue and strength of pinning your life to a suicide pact where everyone will die unless 50% of people join you, is a good way to get a huge fkkn group of people, up to half the world, killed off for siding w you.
English

@StewartalsopIII hmm, I hate office politics in a similar fashion.
English

I tried to steelman the Red position and then a bunch of people in the replies are like “no I would vote Red at any threshold.”
Oh well.
Derek Pederson 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇻🇪@DerekPederson3
Okay, for real, I like mocking Team Red but it's not as simple as people suggest. Presumably, almost everyone would vote Red if the requisite threshold were 99% and almost everyone would vote Blue if the requisite threshold were 1%.
English

@chuckwilliams37 the scenario is highly chaotic due to factors like this. in the framing given, yes, because coordinating simultaneous votes is not practical.
English

@wbic16 Do you believe that people will have in this scenario the opportunity to discuss their votes prior to the vote?
English

@phaenone @RokoMijic in a fake hypothetical on Twitter, with higher than average IQ
English

@wbic16 @RokoMijic sure, but clearly >>10% of people pick blue? I mean, blue won the poll
English

@phaenone @RokoMijic yes, but going from 10% to 5% is way better than 10% to 45%
English

@RokoMijic @wbic16 isn’t it much easier to avoid that species level threat by going from 49% to 51% blue instead of 49% red to 99% red?
English

@O__C___D__ @unisoccon lol no this was 30 seconds of GPT for hours of fun
English

@unisoccon @wbic16 send this to Pfizer and ask for a marketing job.
English

updated @wbic16 with my takes
thanks to chatgpt
Also not shown: most red buttons pushers, at least on X, are male, rather than female. So unless you've already reproduced, your genetic line is also kind of screwed probably.
