Lorena Perez-Herrera, a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Dominican Republic, was sentenced for her involvement in defrauding American entities, primarily one Montana school district, through an international business email compromise fraud scheme. ⚖️She was sentenced to 24 months behind bars and must pay over $1.4M in restitution, thanks to ICE special agents and their federal partners at the EPA and IRS. 🔎ICE is more than just immigration law enforcement. Through its @HSI_HQ investigative arm, ICE special agents also enforce hundreds of federal laws, including those related to online BEC fraud schemes.
