I don’t know why whenever I mention being into crypto or web3 to people, they automatically assume it’s only about “trading”?
In my experience, most people outside web3 have no idea that the technology actually has real world utility beyond trading. I mean… there are web3 platforms that let you buy airtime, book flights, save, make cross border payments, and even stream, yet this is rarely the conversation. Some are actually surprised whenever i mention the real world utility of crypto.
It feels like a failure in orientation. Most people I’ve met were onboarded through airdrops, Telegram “tap-to-earn” (remember Hamster?)
or “buy this coin and sell later” schemes.
You could be telling someone about a product and they hit you “How much will I get when i download the app?” Is this a typical user behavior? I doubt because when these same people download bolt, they don’t ask “how much will i get for booking a ride”.
Is it a lack of proper education, or is the onboarding process just fundamentally inadequate?
